Burning love

Daisuke knew what he must do. It was even spelled out in his given name Daisuke, which means helper. Even though his daughter Satoshi did not want him to go, the duty ingrained in him made the choice for him. His entire adult life had been dedicated to fighting fires and the emerging tragedy in Indonesia in 2049 caused him to take action. He arranged for his troop to fly from Japan to assist with squelching this tragic fire that had been burning out of control for over 2 years now. His advanced age of 52 was not going to stop his resolve to do whatever he could to help. His father Isamu who was also a firefighter his entire life, insisted on going as well for moral support and they prepared to leave the next morning on an early charter flight. His daughter Satoshi knew once he made up his mind she could not change it. She tried to give her father the heart-shaped locket he gave her on her birthday so many years ago, but he refused as he gave her that gift on her 5th birthday and told her to always wear it as it will give you courage and keep his love locked away next to her heart always. He had her name engraved on the back and a heart drawn on the inside of the locket for her to see when she opened it. Just wear it and my heart will always be with you he had said, and it has been her prize possession ever since. She knew he wouldn't take it so she did the next best thing and cajoled her grandfather into taking her locket to sneak into her dads fire suit for protection. She knew she would feel better knowing she was with him in spirit. She did however keep the key with her so she could open it when her father returned home. Her father was a lifelong firefighter in Tokyo and was unafraid to go where he felt he was needed The fire had been burning for two years and the (AQI) or Air Quality Index had reached 2000 throughout most of the country according to authorities and anything between 301-500 is considered very dangerous. She had never wanted him to go but she knew that fighting fires was in her dad's blood as his father Isamu and also his grandfather Nori were both firefighters. The next morning she cried but knew what must be done. No one knew what to expect and how long they would be gone but the answer came sooner than anyone expected when three days later her grandfather Isamu knocked on Satoshi's door.

Satoshi opened the door to find her grandfather standing at the doorstep.. Alone.

Satoshi could not stop the tears from coming. She dropped the locket key to the floor as her whole body was shaking. Her mom was there to comfort her but it did nothing to stop the flood of memories and love she had for her father that she would never see again. She had just said her goodbyes to him three days before as he left to help fight the massive fires that had been engulfing much of Indonesia. This fire had destroyed more than 30 percent of all the forests in Indonesia and her father believed with his experience he could help, but was dropped in the wrong spot and got caught in a deadly fire whirl from which he couldn't escape. A fire whirl is a tornado like phenomenon that derives from surface winds and heat induced lifting and it took the lives of 200 Japanese firefighters, including Satoshi's father Daisuke.

After hours of grieving and hugs from the many family and friends who had gathered to support the family at this tragic time Isamu took his granddaughter to her room to share the story his son and her father had shared with him on the plane ride to Indonesia before his ill fated destiny. "I tried to sneak the locket in his suit at the hotel before we left to drop into the fire site but he caught me." Isamu told his granddaughter. Daisuke then told me a story about the inheritance his grandfather Nori left him when he passed as I thought he invested it all in the stock market. Your father let me know that I must return this locket to you at all costs as it is not only the symbol of his eternal love but the keeper of the 12 word mnemonic keys that will unlock your inheritance in the bitcoin investment he made with his grandfather's gift so many years ago in 2018. He then showed Satoshi the secret compartment behind the heart of her locket where the keys were engraved. Many tears and days later after her eulogy for her beloved father at his memorial service her grandfather and her scanned in her 12 keys to access the bitcoin blockchain in order to see the funds that those keys control. Overwhelmed was beyond the description and Satoshi knew what she must do. Weeks later the new Daisuke firefighter's foundation was born and the first accomplishment was the extinguishing of the 3 year Indonesian fires. Anything is possible when enough funds are focused on a solution is what Satoshi has learned. She has kept up her promise to help in any way possible like her father Daisuke; and her father true to his word remains in his daughter's heart always.
