They pulled back the tapestry, threads of gold dancing through vibrant teal. Beyond, was a room filled with goblets made from solid silver, chests overflowing with raw opals, various exotic regalia strewn between.

Tacuma glanced at his watch. “The owners will be in Mt. Kintoki for about another hour. This is our chance. Let’s not blow it.”

Hitomi scoffed, not entertaining the idea of failure. He trod swiftly to the back of the room, as if the valuable treasures were imaginary. He knocked on a golden panel. “Over here,” he gestured. Both begin to examine the area. “Aha.” Hitomi declared once he came across button that unlocked a cloaked door.

They rushed into the back room; an oval crib filled with straw at its center. Tacuma reached in carefully, extracting something bundled in a plush blanket. He pulled the material back from its head, two beady eyes peering up at him. “Look Hitomi. He looks just like his father.”

“That he does.” He smiled. “And he will never have to fight, just as we promised.”

The cobalt scales of the baby dragon shimmered as they carried him out of the house and towards a life of peace.

This is an excellent take on the challenge. Stealing a baby dragon, love it. Very well done.
