The doctor walked in with the test results. Anne quivered, it looked like he was smiling. "I'm pregnent" she squealed. "You are pregnant" The doctor confirmed. Anne smiled. the man sittin next to her was silent. The doctor turned to him and chuckled " Becoming a father for the first time is a jolt, and this is your first. Anna hugged her motionless husband. She practically danced on their way to the car

Once in the car he pulled out of the parking garage. She lay her head on his leg and he rubbed her hair as he drove.

As soon as he noticed she had fallen asleep. He put both hands on the wheel and started to cry. Were they tears of happines or tears of sorrow- only he knew. At the next red light he moved his wife into a safer position and placed her seat belt on her,

Once home he carried Anne into her bed ,and left a note. " I'll be right back we should celebrate."

He grabbed a small bottle of bourbon, and a bottle of non-alchohalic wine. He also got a cup and a diet pepsi. He was not going to get the mother of his baby drunk. but it was one of those evenings that he really needed a drink. Moments later he was walking into his life singing " I'm alive, I'm alive. the world began for me today." She heard him singing and joined in, changeing the words slightly. "the world is changing for us today, we're alive.

"Non-alcoholic wine he said holding the bottle. She looked down, she loved champagne. " We have to safequard the fetis of the mother of my child". "Our child" she responded but she got the glasses and smiled.

When he had been dating he always knew what song to sing for his dates but today his mind was blank. Did that mean that he was not in his play form or that life had gotten out of his control. She was happy, happy to sit in the peaceful silence. She dimmed the lights and dispite the newness of being a father , he did not cry. She leaned against him on the couch and he hugged her. She quietly sang "we're alive, what a perfect day." He silently rubbed her arms. "He had a peaceful easy feeling".

The next day her phone texts were full. Anne had texted a view friends with the news. And as it work, one friend had told another friend. Anne knew this was not a common cause for a party, but she planned one anyway. She could make a fuss proclaining her happiness. It was corny but why not. Not a baby shower- she didn't know the sex,, but her declaration.

This type of party meant both families would be coming. The general rule was they would talk about family, children's gymnastic classes, soccor. The words were memorized , they would roll off his lips. It would be impossible to tell if he was enjoying it or not. The two families appeared to be on the same page and view each others family as family. Anne had him work the first half of the day at home, while she cleaned the house and planned the party. It had to be planned perfectly. She didn't want to accidently play "I want to kiss you all over." If he did or didn't was a personal manner, but she did not need her family wondering. She knew her husband would only have nonalchoholic beverages, but the rest of the family was not pregnant. He did not want her lifting, so he took her list to the market. When done he went to his office- and returned a hour before the party.He did not have to help,a few of her friends were already in the kitchen. He cleaned up,and changed into the family attire.
