Kimberly began doodling on a piece of paper, content to be in her own, little world and oblivious of her surroundings. The other kids gushed about their recent bug collecting competition, excited by all their new critters. They were disappointed by the thunderstorm that prevented them from adding to their collection but shifted their focus to naming all the bugs they currently found.

Serena walked over to Kimberly, curious as to what captured her attention. Peeking over at the paper, she spied a series of doodles. The drawings were rather cute, but they certainly didn’t look like anything she had ever seen.

“What are you drawing?” she inquired, hoping to gain insight into Kimberly’s world.

Kimberly glanced up, pausing her drawing. “Just some aliens,” she answered before resuming her sketching.

“Oh, really? Are they from the same planet, and do they have names?”

“Well,” Kimberly began, “they’re all pretty different. They’re all best friends, but they come from different planets.” She showed off each alien, pointing to each one as she shared its name. “This one’s Jim. Over here is Pointy. That one’s Eyes, and then there’s Bob.”

Serena considered the alien-being doodles. They were rather interesting, undoubtedly unique, and she wondered about Kimberly’s naming process. Pointy definitely was pointy with all of his spikes, and Eyes had many eyes. She wasn’t sure where the names “Jim” and “Bob” came from; it wasn’t based off any physical characteristics, that much was certain.

“There’s a cool story behind them,” Kimberly revealed. “Do you want to hear it?”

Serena smiled, encouraging, “I’d love to listen and learn more about them.”

“Okay, their home planets are a great distance away from Earth,” Kimberly began.

Throughout the vast expanses of the universe are countless planets, home to a variety of creatures. Large and small. Skinny and wide. Animal and plant. The differences are too great to account for.

Many beings transverse the universe, exploring its many wonders and journeying far to learn about different cultures. The universe, with all its marvelous curiosities, is full of chance encounters that forever change lives.

With many exciting planets to explore, individuals can grow bored with the idea of their home planet, longing for adventure and something new. They become ensnared with a sense of wanderlust and take to the skies in hopes of discovering the thrills their hearts desperately yearn for.

This fate played out for a small group that dubbed themselves the “Alien Crew.” These four individuals became fast friends by chance. After leaping at the chance to go explore the vast regions of space, their spacecraft collided with one another.

Now, one would assume this to have disastrous consequences. Crashes often result in injury and broken vehicles. The oddest thing happened at the time of their collision, though. The four separate spacecraft merged together, creating one ultimate ship.

Needless to say, the four individuals, Jim, Pointy, Eyes, and Bob, were quite surprised by the turn of events. They were now stuck on a joint-ship with strangers, their own personal spacecraft lost. Deciding to make the most of the opportunity presented to them, they chose to join forces and forge friendships. This newest event acted as a wild card and added a twist to their adventure, which inspired them.

Sharing about their past and home planets of Chiese, Sidey, Boog, and Cookydook, they brainstormed where their journey should take them next. Spurred by spontaneity and motivated to see how far they could go, the crew set their sights on a mysterious planet they had heard many rumors about: planet Earth.

The allure of Earth and its mysteries ensnared their curiosity, so the new group of friends set course and traveled across the universe to find it. Excited by the prospect of discovering creatures starkly different from themselves, they swiftly zoomed their way to the prized destination. They were eager to learn about Earth’s alien culture and hoped to make even more new friends.
