If The Earth Could Speak

For The Vocal "Last Call" Challenge

There is a voice that speaks to us but we are not listening. We go about our daiily business ignoring the last call that The Earth is giving us.

As far as humanity is concerned The Earth has been around forever, but as far as The Earth is concerned humanity has just appeared on the surface like a minor rash. However that rash has spread like a virulant cancer, whose only functions seems to be consume and destroy.

Bill Bryson apparently descibes cancer thus:

Uncontrollable cell division where normal cells turn rogue, meaning the body is effectively attacking itself.

Bill Bryson

The cosmos provides humanity with effectively unlimited power, from the sun, the wind and waves. Unfortuately these cannot be held hostage for corporations to price-gouge the cash-cow population with and line their ever expanding bank accounts.

"Only when the last tree has been cut down, the last fish been caught, and the last stream poisoned, will we realize we cannot eat money."

Native American or Cree Indian proverb

The Earth tells up that we cannot keep taking things from the ground and cutting down forests, and it provides us with free power, the trees clean the air, and rain and springs provide us with water.

Plants and trees grow and can provide us with food.

Imagine if your body was treated like the Earth with the Shylock Corporations taking their pound of flesh day after day (although wage slavery and government complicity eels like that is happening financially anyway), how long would you last?

Must the Earth scream its Last Call before we listen? If we don't listen we may not have air to breathe and water to drink. Will the corportions gloat over the size of their bank accounts as they sit in their bunkers watching as their oxygen supplies deteriorate and canned food dwindles, having watche dtheir DVDs of "Planet Of The Apes" (original 1967 version) for the fiftieth time.

We have to listen to Earth's "Last Call" or we may not see another tomorrow. If we ignore it will The Earth give up and burn until we are left with nothing but an airless desert of cinders and dust?

Fossil Fuels should be forgotten and fossilised. The world is richer with more resources that it has ever had, but those resources are directed towards war and destruction rather than growth and creation.

The Earth gives us pointers and warnighs but we have reached The Last Call.

One day The Sun will die, but the way things are going, if humanity does not listen to The Earth's Last Call, then the Earth will expire and take humanity with it.

Populating other planets is an unfounded pipedream until humanity can put itself before the twin gods of money and power. I am thinking Star Trek.

They used to manufature weapons to deal with aggression in war, now the make wars to sell weapons, and while The Earth may give up certain people remember Nagasaki and Hiroshima and don't see a problem with that.

The Earth is doing its best to keep all life going, but humanity is the only one that is threatening The Earth, taking cola, oil and wood. Humans created virtually indestructable plastic which is choking the seas and atmosphere.

earth is telling us this is humanity's last call. It gives us so many free, non-detructive resources, but humanity still goes for the destructive products because they line bank acconts.

Humanity has to listen.

Humanity has to act.

Or Humanity will be no more.
