Nadia marched up to the Lyft driver at the bar and said, “Hey, you! Are you following me?”

The man’s smile lit up his very handsome face. He seemed genuinely (annoyingly) delighted to see her. “If it isn’t ‘Miss Be Quiet!’ Have a seat. This is…” He gestured to the guy sitting next to him, but Nadia - wanting to wipe that smug smile off his face - intended to throw his drink in his face. With cat-like reflexes, he put out a hand and the drink splashed on Nadia’s face instead.

She shrieked. He grabbed her and kissed her, full on the lips.

Nadia stood stunned, with her mouth hanging open. When she found her voice, she yelled, “What makes you think you can…”

The man interrupted, “You made me spill my drink. I was just hoping for a taste of it from your gorgeous lips.” There was that smug look again.

“How dare you? Of all the…”

“Oh, lighten up, Princess. You looked like you needed some ruffling up.“ With A devilish grin, he added, “Don’t be so uptight.” He motioned again to the man beside him, who was holding his fingers over his mouth, restraining his laughter. “This is my friend, Sam. Why don’t you join us? Or are you with a boyfriend who is about to protect your honor?”

Nadia humphed, and grabbed a napkin and began drying off her face. “Not that it’s any of YOUR business, but I’m here with my girlfriends.” She turned to leave, crossing her arms. She flipped her blond curls, and over her shoulder, she said, “Good riddance.” As she was walking away, she heard the driver say, “Sam, I like that lady’s spunk. I’d like to…” She walked faster to avoid hearing whatever he had in mind.

Her friends, Sasha and Helen, were staring at her as she returned to their table. “Dish it, girlfriend,” Shasha purred.

“Yeah,” Helen added, aiming a thumb toward the bar. “Who are the dreamboats?”

“That…” Nadia exclaimed, left hand on her hip, right hand pointing toward the bar, “…is the most exasperating man I’ve ever had the misfortune to meet.”

“I don’t know,” Sasha smirked, “If he kissed me like that, I’d be more apt to call him exhilarating.”

Nadia gasped. “You guys were watching? Why are you taking his side? He was so … so … presumptuous.” She smoothed her blouse and then stuck out her lower lip, “and he called me Princess.”

Helen nodded with a grin, as the title fit.

“Hey, Helen,” Sasha slurred loudly, standing up, “I think I’d like to talk to the bartender about my next drink. Didn’t you say you thought yours was a bit watery? Why don’t you come with me, over by the bar?”

“No, you wouldn’t…” Nadia roared.

“Well,” Helen stood and shrugged, “If you don’t like them, they’re fair game.”

Nadia called after them, “Fine, go ahead, see if I care,” and she turned her back to them. She felt her so-called “friends” had abandoned her. All she wanted was a fun girls’ night out, and now they had to go get men involved. Well, technically, SHE had gotten them involved, but they couldn’t just let it drop. No, not her friends.

Helen and Sasha came back giggling just eight minutes later. Nadia knew, because she had been watching the time with her phone.

“Stephano!” Sasha squealed, batting her eyelashes.

Nadia crinkled her eyebrows. “Huh?”

Sasha swooned, “His name is Stephano. Isn’t that a sexy name?”

Helen sat and said, “He likes your name too, Nadia.”

Nadia slammed her hand on the table. “I can’t believe you told him my name. You guys are incorrigible.”

Sasha giggled, “We invited them over.”

“Oh, come on,” Nadia complained, “This was supposed to be our girl’s night.”

“It still is,” Sasha said, “With some added eye candy. Stephano was trying to get Sam to reconnect with his brother, so there’s a third guy on the way.”

Helen sighed. “Who would have guessed this would turn into a triple date?”

“This is not a date.” Nadia growled.

Stephano approached the table, followed by Sam, who was struggling with an armload of glasses and bottles clinking. Stephano belatedly rendered assistance by helping to pass them out. Then, he kissed Sasha’s hand and Helen’s. The two ladies giggled at his blatant chivalry.

He said Nadia’s name like he was in the throes of an orgasm, “Nadia.” He let his lips linger sensually on her hand. Nadia - forgetting she was angry with him - got drawn into his smoldering, dark eyes.

One thing was certain - this was going to be a Valentine’s night to remember.
