Fear
She had been to her grandma's and was coming home with bread and cakes for her mother and sister, but her path took her through a shallow, rocky passageway, and it was starting to get dark. The moon was out, and the trees cast shadows, like grey, ghostly stalking figures, and she began to get a little anxious.
As she reached the passage, she was frightened by the barking of a vicious-looking dog, which she had to get past; what was even more frightening was that it seemed to have three heads, like Cerberus, who guards the mouth of Hades. She looked again and realised that the other two heads were shadows cast by the moonlight, and threw the dog a piece of cake, which it started to eat and so stopped barking.
This calmed her, and the dog ignored her as she walked past it.
Next time she would set off while it was still light, and maybe carry a stick, a torch and some treats to occupy the dog if it was there again.
