There was once a cruel man. The cruel man is called Fidel. Fidel doesn't like anyone in the town. Fidel rules the town with an iron fist and does not treat the people well at all. The only thing that Fidel and the townsfolk share is a common interest in bullfighting. Fidel likes to watch bullfights at the Colosseum. The Colosseum is the home of Fidel’s prized bull named El Toro. Fidel especially likes to watch El Toro dominate Matadors in bullfights. Many times, the Matadors are local townsfolk. Everyone goes to the bullfight on Saturdays. The People have fun there as it is the only place where Fidel treats then somewhat decently. El Toro is the scariest bull in all of Mexico. He's a very big black bull, with large pointy horns. The bull El Toro always wins.

One day a Matador arrived in the town, his name is John. John comes from a long line of legendary Matadors and John also always wins. John has heard the legend that is El Toro and is looking for a new challenge he is there to fight El Toro. Everyone in town is talking about John, El Matador. Fidel heard there was a new Matador in town who was not a local and wanted to find out more, so he went to visit John. Fidel asked John what he wants with his town, though he had a pretty good idea. John says he wants to fight El Toro. Fidel thought his ears deceived him, so he asks what? John repeats what he said previously that he wants to defeat El Toro. Fidel laughs so hard at this that he almost falls out of his chair. Fidel tells John that no Matador has ever beaten El Toro and there is no way he can win against El Toro. Fidel tells John that everyone is afraid of El Toro. John replies I have heard this and tells Fidel that he is not afraid. John asks Fidel since he is so confident to make a bet with him. Fidel feeling smug asks John what the wager is? If John doesn't win the bet, he has to take care of El Toro always. If El Toro loses Fidel has to leave the town for good. Fidel is slightly taken aback by the wager and thinks long and hard but has full confidence in his bull. Fidel says that he accepts the bet. The two men agree, and they shake hands. Word quickly spreads across town about the wager between Fidel and John the new Matador which generates a lot of buzz. The people of the town are excited about the upcoming bullfight.

Everyone in the town thinks John is going to lose.

Fidel asks everyone to attend the fun. Never has the Colosseum been so full, there is no empty chairs to be found and it is standing room only. All the townsfolk chant "El Toro," "El Toro!" Fidel is very proud. When John enters the Colosseum people are silent except for a few random cheers. After the bravado ends El Toro is released, the bull runs to where John is, but John does not move at all. John moves his cloak on top of El Toro and covers the bull’s head. The bull is distracted by this and has no idea what to do. There was a silence in the Colosseum! How is it possible? What comes next is something that will be talked about for days and perhaps even weeks to come. John unleashes a flurry of moves so fast that he becomes a blur, zipping around the Colosseum from one end to the other. El Toro chases John for as long as he can until El Toro cannot continue anymore and El Toro collapses to the ground. As the bull hits the ground a large plume of dirt flies up in the air obscuring the bull, John, and everyone’s view. The people want to see what is happening, Fidel screams for someone to do something about the dirt plume. As the dirt settles, the silhouette of John emerges and everyone in attendance sees John remove a thin item from his side and hold it in the air. As it becomes clearer, the people see that John is holding his sword up in the air and only then comes to understand what is about to happen. With a flick of his wrist and in a one quick motion, the hilt of the sword glistens in the sun. The sword comes down, Fidel screams just as John stabs the ground. John has stabbed the ground as close to the bull as possible without actually impaling the animal. With El Toro still collapsed, exhausted, John stands on top of the bull victorious. The people can't believe what they see as they stare at the scene in disbelief. El Toro has lost which also means that Fidel has lost. Fidel collapses in his chair as he remembers his bet with John. Fidel embarrassed leaves the town that same day with his bull walking slowly behind him. John having defeated El Toro leaves the town to find his next challenge and no one sees John ever again. With Fidel gone and the terror of El Toro gone the people of the town live happily ever after.
