In the lively town of Ebor Orogun, situated in the heart of Delta State, Nigeria, a budding romance was about to take an unexpected turn. Daniel, a young man with dreams in his heart, mustered the courage to approach Veronica, a captivating woman who had caught his eye.

Under the shade of a sprawling mango tree on a sunny afternoon, Daniel found himself standing before Veronica, his heart racing with anticipation. "Veronica," he began, his voice a mix of nervousness and determination. "I want you to be my girlfriend. I will take care of you, and money won't be an issue."

Surprised by Daniel's bold confession, Veronica felt a flutter of excitement in her chest. She had noticed his genuine kindness and the sparkle in his eyes. However, her curiosity got the best of her, and she felt compelled to ask for more information. "What do you do for a living?" Veronica inquired, her gaze fixed on Daniel, wanting to understand the man she was considering a relationship with.

A smile played on Daniel's lips as he briefly believed he had the perfect response to win Veronica's heart. "Don't you know that I am the G.M of my company?" he confidently replied.

Filled with delight, Veronica imagined Daniel as a successful General Manager overseeing a thriving enterprise. The thought of being with a man of such stature filled her with pride and excitement. "Okay, Daniel," she responded eagerly. "I will be your girlfriend."

The next day, accompanied by her closest friend, Veronica set out on a journey to visit Daniel at his workplace. Anticipation bubbled within her, and excitement radiated from her every pore. They navigated the bustling streets of Ebor Orogun until they reached the address Daniel had given.

As they approached the destination, Veronica's heart raced with anticipation. She envisioned a grand office adorned with polished furniture and busy employees. However, upon entering the premises, her excitement turned to confusion. Veronica and her friend found themselves standing in front of a modest residential building, completely different from the corporate environment she had imagined. Perplexed, they sought guidance from the security guard stationed at the entrance.

Following the directions provided, Veronica and her friend arrived at a worn-out gate where a man in uniform, holding a set of keys, stood before them. To Veronica's disbelief, the man was Daniel. Stammering, she expressed her shock and disappointment. "What kind of embarrassment is this, Daniel? I thought you said you were the General Manager of your company!"

Daniel's face turned pale as the weight of his deceit crashed down upon him. He realized the magnitude of the misunderstanding and the hurt and disappointment reflected on Veronica's face. With a heavy heart, he tried to explain himself. "Yes, baby, when I said G.M, I meant gate man, not General Manager," Daniel confessed in a barely audible voice.

Veronica's anger flared, feeling betrayed by Daniel's deception. She felt as if he had played a cruel game with her emotions. Her friend stood beside her, silently offering support and sharing in her frustration. "You lied to me, Daniel," Veronica expressed, her voice filled with disappointment and anger. "Why would you make such a big deal about being a General Manager when you're just a gate man? Why couldn't you have been honest with me from the beginning?"

Daniel's heart sank as he witnessed tears welling up in Veronica's eyes. He realized the gravity of his mistake and the consequences of trying to impress her with falsehoods. Looking at her, his eyes filled with remorse, he stammered, "I'm sorry, Veronica. I never meant to deceive you. I was afraid you wouldn't accept me for who I am, that you would judge me based on my job. I wanted to show you that I could provide for you."

Veronica's anger softened as she listened to Daniel's sincere words. She saw his vulnerability and fear of losing her love and respect. Taking a deep breath, she tried to calm the storm of emotions within her. "Daniel," she said, her voice trembling. "I understand your fears, but lying is never the solution. Love is built on trust, honesty, and acceptance. I wish you had trusted me enough to be open about your situation."

With the weight of his mistake hanging heavily in the air, Daniel nodded, his gaze fixed on the ground. He realized that he had jeopardized their relationship by concealing the truth. In that moment, he silently vowed to himself to be truthful and transparent, regardless of the consequences.
