Bethanie was writhing in ecstasy with her ex-husband between her legs. She was so close, but she just wanted to hold on to the feeling she got when Jonas was inside her. “So, uh, I think we should talk about us going to Couple’s Counseling,” he said in between grunts. She groaned in his ear “OFF,” she commanded, and he did as he was told. Every few months Jonas feels the need to bring up the past and what they had, mind you he never reminds himself as to WHY they are now divorced. “Come on B, why every time we talk about us you get up and leave,” he asked trying to stop her from getting dressed. She scoffed gathering the content of her purse which was thrown onto the floor during her entrance “Jonas, you cheated on me six months after our child died in the NICU, six months Jonas, you were weak and I don’t trust you or any man,” she said slidingher panties on in a way that made him regret ever opening his mouth. He should’ve finished first. He had not had any luck finding a woman to replace Bethanie in the bed, in the kitchen, in his heart. He had fxcked up and he admitted to her that he was too weak to put her back together after their son died but after three years apart from her he could finally understand her point of view and it killed him to know their marriage ending was mostly his fault.

After they divorced Bethanie had no choice but to get it out the mud, as they say. She started working as a legal secretary at one of the largest firms in the Chicago area and it seemed to be paying her well; every time she met up with Jonas for a “playdate” she always had a new bag or shoes. Jonas walked her to the door with a defeated look on his face, Bethanie felt bad and gave him a goodbye hug. She didn’t want him to read into it, so she kept it short and made her way to her matte black BMW. This car was her first purchase after one month of hustling hard and doing challenging work finally paid off.

She zoomed away putting her sunglasses on and decided to call her girlfriend Laces. She had been friends with Laces for over a decade, their relationship predated her relationship with Jonas, so Lace knew all the tea. “Bethy Red! Hey girl you caught me getting off the clock, perfect timing where are you,” Lace sounded excited, she must’ve had a wonderful day at work. Usually, it didn’t matter how great the client was, Lace always had a problem with the job itself. “I’m on my way to meet the legal team, wink wink,” she said. Lace chuckled “Right, right, cellphones. My place after your shift?” She asked but she already knew the answer. “Oh, yes ma’am, I definitely got some Jonas tea to spill,” she laughed. Say hi to Dayzie for me, Lace joked before hanging up. Beth chuckled, pulling into the Law Firm parking garage.

She always parked on the top level and took the stairs down to the entrance. It was five floors down be she appreciated the exercise. She pushed through the double doors and as always, all eyes were on her and she wasn’t fazed by it, she was always clean fitted every time she is called into the office. She took the elevator to the top level to see the Legal Financier, she was ready to get this shift over with and get to Laces for a much-needed getaway. She walked into the office and the secretary directed her to the Account Executive. She sat down in front of the stern face of her boss Mr. Slivinski. “Beth, Beth, Beth how was your little vacation from the office,” he eyed her up and down. Beth was more than certain he had a thing for her, but she was not interested in his time, just his money. “Peaceful, can we get down to it, I have a date,” she smirked. He huffed at the idea of her being with someone, when he found her, she was a broken woman. He made her the woman who sat before him. Strong, beautiful. Disloyal…. “There’s a man who’s dodging me, he owes me a pretty large amount of money. Around $150,000 of unsettled debts. Debts that I borrowed from this firm, for you to get your payday, I need my money,” he slid her a business card with a name, address and beside all that was a picture. She let a sly grin creep across her face and then she just started laughing. She laughed so hard she was about to start crying, what a fxckin coincidence we have here, she laughed holding her sides! Mr. Slivinski looked confused, “Oh wow, small world,” she sighed. “You know this piece of shxt!,” he asked pointing at the picture next to the card. She nodded. “This man is awfully close with a friend of mine named Dayzie. And he ACTUALLY already paid me….to see you,” she said clutching Dayzie in her purse and letting off two shots through the desk and into Mr. Slivinski’s gut. She pulled out Dayzie and finished him off in the head. Triple tap, she said taking the card and the picture and putting them in her purse. She slipped out the room quickly and quietly as if nothing had happened, thank the highest for the silencer. “Bye Daisy,” she secretary waved as Beth got into the elevator and left the floor, she smiled at the secretary before making her escape. It had not been her intention today to cross her boss of three years, he had done a lot for her; he fed her, gave her a job as a secretary and when she found out what he really did, he got her the training she needed to become his best asset. It is a shame really; men only understand one language; power but Bethanie understood that power that matters is money. For enough money, we would kill anybody.
