Love. With a capital "L"

Amongst the many words thrown about by light beings floating in the giant enormity of 'Energy', the 'L' word was seldom spoken.

The Maintainer sighed. "I brought it about so that they would have something to aspire towards. Amongst the drivel that they will obsess with, they will have that one thing to guide them beyond materiality and attain absolute comfort. Eventually, one day when they are granted dissolution, they will have gained Experience and Wisdom".

"It is but a treacherous ruse, entirely unnecessary ", said the Destroyer.

It was at this point the Creator chimed in. Not many have time for the Creator. He was only the builder after all. Maintainer was like the warranty. And the Destroyer, well, he was the Destroyer.

The Creator cleared his throat uncertainly. "Hem, ahem. I wonder why, Master Maintainer, you would make it so difficult for them then. These emotions leave them flooded with misery, often because of Love! Pride, Anger, Greed, Lust and, the worst of them all, Attachment.

"Creator, you gave them Life. But you left them hollow. I molded them with emotions, both destructive and productive. I gave them intelligence so they could both question and understand", replied the Maintainer. Eons upon eons of patience lined his brow. He was the incarnation of beauty with that ever-present smile coupled with a glint of mischief in his eye.

The Destroyer snorted. "Why even bother them with emotions and intelligence at all if the eventuality is dissolution".

"It is only when they have Experience and Absolution that they deserve their place amongst the hum of Energy", smiled the Maintainer.

The Destroyer snorted again and returned to his task. He was working on his Dance. This one was very important. With the grace of one who crafted the intricate patterns of movement since the inception of his consciousness, he positioned himself.

With his feet apart and left foot turned outwards, pointing towards the quasar, he bent his left knee and moved his right foot towards his left in a slow, almost Loving, motion. Then his right toe met the heel of his left foot and he traced a half circle line forward and around himself. Then, he paused.

"I wonder Maintainer, whether we did the right thing", he mused.

The Creator nodded fervently. "We should check in you know. I don’t believe they have ever tried humanity before. Must they go through so much without any guidance?"

"That’s not what I meant", snapped the Destroyer.

The Maintainer smiled, as per usual. "We cannot interfere".

The Destroyer rolled his eyes, his body still in the same pose. He drew both hands above him and without hesitation brought his palms together in a resounding smack.

The quasar lurched from within and rotated with a speed only ever seen at the birth of the current universe. The Destroyer moved his left arm down, the other remained above his head with wrist relaxed and fingers in a complicated formation. He held his left palm outstretched, ready to receive the pulsating disk vomited out by the quasar.

Vibrating with urgency, the disk greedily sought the hum of the Destroyer's hand. But then, at the last second before contact could be made, the Destroyer smirked and bent his body backwards, using his right hand to shoot a forceful burst of energy that sped the disk over his body towards the resigned hand of the Creator.

Catching the disk, the Creator quickly trapped it in a tight clasp between his two hands. Nodding once to the Maintainer, he let out a long breath. His Aura shimmered brightly as his breath fell over his hands. The disk was transforming but the Creator was not yet finished. He held the disk close to his chest and tendrils of light erupted from his core, enveloping his hands. The angry buzzing between his fingers appeared to slowly cease.

The Creator transferred the object to one fist, then holding it out towards the Maintainer, he uncurled his fingers slowly.

"Ahhh", sighed the Maintainer. "Isn't it beautiful".

In the palm of the Creator's hand was a small, glowing orb.

The Destroyer peered over the Maintainer's shoulder with interest. "Is that an egg?"
