August and Mercy drove through the chaotic streets that they were now accustomed. The whole country had become a mess, with the police in a constant struggle to maintain order against the restless population. Over the last decade the American citizens slowly lost respect for their government, just like their government lost respect for the world. Climate change had created shortages of food, fuel, and water. This led to the world order becoming unstable and many countries engaged in economic warfare. The USA added to the strain on the world by refusing to pay it's dues. The world lost count of the US debt and it became immeasurable. Tensions eventually broke into all out war between many countries, and now the conflict was on America's doorstep. The Eastern Alliance composed of India, Russia, China, and countless smaller countries. Nuclear threats were made daily and tensions were reaching a climax. Most of the American citizens disagreed with the government and huge percentages of the population threatened revolution. The American goverment lost control. Most Americans thought the world would soon end. This caused people to drive like idiots.

After avoiding many wrecks, the couple made it to their destination; the abandoned police station. The Austin police station on i35 and 7th St had been abandoned after the new police headquarters was opened on the other side of town. It was now run by Twin brothers who had methodically taken over the local entertainment scene as the world went to shit. They stole, schemed, and organized until they could throw massive parties every night, complete with lights, sound, booze, sex, and drugs - old and new. They thrived in the chaos and were ruthless in their conquests. The twins commandeered the old police station and used the large auditorium as the main stage. Everyone was invited so long as they let the twins rule. If someone were to cause a problem or confront the twins for any reason whatsoever, goons would step in and see the problem resolved. The twins had control over many people and maintained a network of connections. They were the kings of their own underground world and would buy and sell anything so long as their was a profit to be made.

The couple parked their car in the big parking next to the police station. They dodged some homeless people and made their way to the front door to find it wide open and easily accessable.
