"Don’t worry. There’s no way this can go wrong this time.”

She looks up at me, an expectant look in her green gaze.

I chuckle and bring my hand to rest on her head. “But yes, we can go over it again. While I'm distracting him, you enter. You grab the goods and then we meet by the window.”

She doesn’t give me an affirmative answer, but I know she understands.

I walk up to his door and knock. After a moment, he answers.

“Hey! I was walking by and I realized I hadn’t seen you in forever.”

Out of the corner of my eye, I see her slip past him. Good thing she’s small. I bite back a grin as I make plans to hang out with him later.

After we say goodbye, I sneak around to the window where she should be.

I hear the front door open again, accompanied by a yell of my name, and I peer back around. He’s standing there with her in his arms. He scowls at me.

“Jesus Christ. I don’t know what you want this time, but you can just ask like a normal person. Your cat found my ham sandwich.”
