Bus Ride
Mother Combs' Campfire Stories Challenge
Here is my contribution to Mother Combs' Campfire Stories Challenge:
The bus was full during rush hour, but she was very lucky. There was one seat available in the very back, and she was able to walk slowly past all of the passengers, strollers, and baggage to see that it was next to a very handsome man. Nice suit, good cologne, and a winning smile. All of the people she saw at work were the usual dull office drones. She gave up on them a long time ago. And she wondered…
“Nice day today.”
At least he spoke first.
“Oh, yes! Just glad I found a seat.”
The bus entered a tunnel that would end with the terminus.
“Just cannot believe it was free…”
The man smiled and stared at her.
“Well, it had to be.”
The lights began to flicker over the windows.
She looked over his face, frowning at his words.
“I’m sorry. What…?”
“I’m sick. We all are...so sick.”
The woman had not noticed it, but the bus was no longer moving. And she looked up and saw that the passengers were all smiling; they were all smiling at her without a word. And they began to move closer to her.
“So nice to have you. So…nice.”
She screamed as the lights winked out.

Oh, I should NOT have read this in the dark! How spooky!! Nicely done!
I really loved the image of the other passengers coming for her at the end. Well done 👏🏽
Great entry!
That's one delicious meal! Lol! Loved your story!
Fortunately not like any of the buses I’ve driven!
OMG, this one is chilling. Great work.
Gives a new meaning to lunch mates. :)
Is there a light at the end of the tunnel?
