Angus and Duke
The McDonald Family
There was a family in Scotland that had a mean bull and a friendly bull. The mean bull's name was Angus, and the friendly bull's name was Duke. The family was the McDonald family which consisted of three boys and two girls. The boys' names were Duncan, Malcolm, Rory. The girls names were McKenna and Lorna. They were a well to do family. All of the children were well-behaved. They loved living in their beautiful country. They enjoyed wearing the Scottish kilts and enjoyed dancing like the Scottish people do. The McDonald children had many friends that they played with. Games the Scots and the McDonald children played included marbles and a game called British Bulldog. The boys played football, and the girls played a hopscotch game. They also played a game called plainy-clappy. They bounced a ball against a wall while singing a chant with actions. A normal bounce against the wall was plainy. On the next bounce the girl clapped her hands before catching the ball which was clappy. One more game the children played was What's The Time Mr. Wolf?
They loved riding Duke which they often did. The McDonalds enjoyed food the Scottish people loved. A full Scottish breakfast is eggs, bacon, sausage, tatter scones, black pudding, and a fried tomato. The McDonald's enjoyed a roast dinner on Sundays with carrots, peas, roasted potatoes, and broccoli. They loved to eat shortbread, marmalade pudding, and raspberry cranachan which consists of cream, honey, oatmeal, and fried vegetables. The McDonalds enjoyed going for walks regularly. They enjoyed riding their bikes, hiking, and fishing.
The children enjoyed taking care of Angus and Duke from the time they were small until they were full grown. They loved feeding them milk with a bottle and later a bucket. Angus wasn't aggressive and mean when he was a calf. He became that way when he was full grown. The children were told to stay away from Angus. He lived in a bull pen. Of course Duke was allowed to roam and wasn't kept in a pen.
One day Rory forgot he was supposed to stay away from Angus. He went to the bull pen where Angus lived. He was 20 feet away from the bull pen. Angus saw him and broke out of the pen. Thankfully Rory saw him in time and didn't let Angus get close enough to attack him. This scare Rory. He decided he wouldn't get near Angus again. He told his brothers, sisters, and parents that Angus broke out of his bull pen but didn't get close enough to attack him. Mr. McDonald built a new pen for Angus. Days went by, and the family forgot the incident. McKenna wanted to pull a joke on Angus. She knew how mean he was, but she was brave. The children had a special bucket that they fed both bulls milk when they were calves. She found the bucket and put it behind her back. When Angus saw McKenna, he broke out of his pen. She put the bucket on top of her head. Angus knocked the bucket off her head. Somehow McKenna had a quick reaction. She was able to put the bucket in front of her before Angus charged after her. The bucket got stuck on Angus' head. She laughed at Angus. The bucket stayed on Angus' head all day. Mr. McDonald built a pen for Angus once again and was able to get the bucket off his head. He cautioned his children if they messed with Angus again, they might get hurt. They needed to just enjoy riding Duke as much as they wanted to. The children obeyed their father, and they didn't mess with Angus again.
