Chapter 1

Friday, February 8th

Isaac

-------

Isaac didn’t own a car. After missing his shot with the girl who might as well have owned his heart, he stood nearly confused as to why he was even in the student parking lot, to begin with. He wish he owned a car but he knew that wasn’t going to change anything, and it didn't. Isaac continued on his way, getting back to the school. Normally he would catch a ride with Mason, they'd probably go hangout a little bit before heading home, but not today. Mason had other plans today, so Isaac started walking. He headed towards the front of the school.

Dodging cars and moving past his peers, Isaac made his way through the crowds of students trying to leave the premise as soon as possible. Going down the list of people he knows that could give him a ride home. Landing on the decision to skip the beggar's act and just make the walk home. A little walk never hurt anyone.

He noticed Mason walking down the steps outside of the music hall with his girlfriend, Kayla. She’s a sweet girl, she couldn’t hurt a fly and you’d be weird to even accuse her of it. She was honestly perfect by the majority of the school, including Isaac. He’s not even upset that Mason somehow landed in her arms. He’s happy for his friend, they’d been friends since they were 13, practically kids. Mason honestly needs stability in his life, something to end his senior year better than how he found it.

“Hey!” Mason raised his arm high in the air waving it just enough for Isaac to see. Isaac gave a less obvious wave back while steering himself towards the couple.

“What’s up, man. Hey Kayla.” The two young men grabbed each other’s hands before sliding them apart. Kayla smiled and raised her hand to greet Isaac.

“So, what’s up, are you looking for a ride?” Mason questioned, not letting Kayla go under his arm. Isaac shook his head.

“No, don’t worry about it. I’m catching a ride from Trevor, he’s apparently at the other church parking lot.” Isaac gave out this small chuckle before inching his way away.

“Okay, man. I’ll let you know if we’re still on for that thing.” Mason started turning away.

“Gotcha. Talk to you later!” Isaac didn’t hear a reply, he didn’t need to though. Skipping back down the stairs and onto his way towards the front of the massive building, Isaac couldn’t help but notice how nice the weather was. The wind felt crisp on his cheek but didn’t freeze his nose. He started calculating the time he would arrive home at this rate, probably half an hour.

Isaac made his way, now at the front of the building, from one end to the other. It followed a fairly busy road that ran threw multiple cities nearby. If you needed to get somewhere easily then your best bet is the main road. It’s practically connected to everything.

Beep, beep, beep.

The crosswalk had just ended by the time he got to the far corner intersection on campus. Isaac sat there and pressed the crosswalk button far too many times more than he needed before shoving his hands in his pockets. He took the time to pull out his phone and load up a playlist to listen to while he waited.

Before he knew it, the crosswalk started beeping at Isaac once again. With the tiniest jolt, he made his way officially off of the school grounds.

This was the point of no return.
