He hated the number thirteen
He had been indoctrinated to believe it was unlucky
They said Judas Iscariot was the thirteenth person at the Last Supper, but weren't there twelve Apostles and Jesus so wasn't Jesus number thirteen? He did come off pretty badly and Judas got thirty pieces of silver.
In a Baker's Dozen you get thirteen loaves or cakes just in case one is moldy, but you usually get thirteen good ones, don't you? So that is OK.
When he looked at his ticket, number 1313 issued at 13:13 on the 13th he decided to take another flight.

The Voyeur's Incandescent Reasoning
The woman sat nonplussed, in the Waiting Room. In a sort of daze, looking straight ahead patiently. She had already had three small breakfast's that morning and a nip of sherry, this was not unusual she would typically wait until an hour after she took her anti-depressant and was her morning routine. She was merely following instructions she assured herself, shifted slightly in her seat and feeling a little heart burn thought, maybe she should skip lunch. Dom had said to have the task done this week. She was well used to his methods and desired to get this over and done with soon. She glanced at her watch, smiled weakly at the Receptionist who was there for a moment and then gone.

Gabe reached for the bottle of whisky shaking and batting away a small army of flies. A cold clammy sweat coated him. He smelled of urine and feces. He took a long chug then swapped the bottle for the headset on the coffee table in front of him.

Great story. I remembered reading something abou tthis number and found it so I thought I'd share it just for fun: "Encouragement. This number has been sent down from your angels to tell you that success and getting exactly what you want are on the horizon." Congratulations on your 1313th!
Final Destination -- changing flights won't keep death from pursuing. The ticket has already been issued. Bahaha!
