If you are going through a divorce, you may be overwhelmed by all of the changes that are happening in your life. You may be looking for a new place to live, along with trying to divide up everything that you own. Because it can be so complicated, you should not go through the whole process alone. You need a lawyer who is going to help you.

That being said, many couples head right into court to fight for everything that they want (or what they want to take away from their ex). However, that may not be the best step for you. Divorce mediation may be a better choice.

Here are some reasons why you should go through divorce mediation, instead of duking it out in court.

Even the simplest divorce can be messy. Though you may want to try to go through a divorce without a lawyer, you really shouldn't. Most divorces aren't as simple as you would like to think. Even if you are able to agree on most things, there are going to be at least one or two places where you can't see eye to eye.

Your divorce mediation will be able to help you get through those tough decisions, without taking sides. He or she will help you work together until you both find a settlement that works.

If you want to be able to make the final decision, you should consider going through mediation. When you go to court, the judge will have the final say on what happens with your assets (and your children)! If you are in mediation, you can work together to make the right decisions for your family.

Divorce mediation is often quicker than going through court. Many people who fight for their divorce in court find out that it can take months (or even years) to finally reach a settlement. When you go through mediation, you go at your pace. If your divorce isn't complicated, you could be divorced sooner than you ever imagined!

This also means that it is cheaper. Getting divorced can cost a lot of money, especially if it takes a few months to resolve. Every hour that your lawyer is working for you, it costs you a lot of money.

When you go through mediation, you only have one lawyer to help you get through this time, instead of one for each of you. You may also be able to divide up your assets in a few hours, instead of taking months using the court system.

Going through mediation is a good way to start your new relationship with your ex. Too many couples battle it out in court and end up hating each other. This is even worse when there are children involved because you are going to have to deal with this person for the rest of your life.

However, when you work with a mediator, he or she will help you learn to communicate and resolve conflicts. This will help you work on your new relationship, which may be co-parents who have to get along for the sake of their children!

You may not even realize that you don't have to go to court to get a divorce. However, mediation might be the best thing for you and your family. It allows you to make all of the decisions, as well as learn how to communicate properly as you move on with your life. If you have children together, this can be a great way to start your co-parenting journey together!

You should never go through a divorce by yourself. Mediation is the next best thing to doing just that.
