The Last Letter

Emily sat alone in her dark room, staring at the blank piece of paper in front of her. She had been trying to write a letter to her estranged father for days, but every time she tried, the words just wouldn't come. She wanted to tell him how much she missed him, how much she regretted the fight that had led to their separation, but she didn't know where to start.

Emily's father had left when she was just ten years old. She had never understood why, and her mother had never talked about it.
