Burn that Bra!

In January, 2021, Monica Morgan, and her two daughters, Britt Taylor, & Ashley Morgan, launched a nonprofit, The Burning Bra. The Burning Bra serves as a support and resource for women from all walks of life. This is a nonprofit that focuses on women's empowerment, giving those less privileged a hand, and moving the world and feminism forward.

WOMEN HELPING WOMEN is the premise and forefront of the mission TBB is working to aid and lend resources to and for women. The Burning Bra is founded to provide services that empower women in the home, in the workplace, and in the community. Building women up and meeting them wherever they are in their current season & providing services that help them keep moving in the direction they're looking to go. This nonprofit educates and assists in women's empowerment by hosting conferences, providing a networking platform, and amplifying voices of those less privileged. THe Burning Bra supports foster parents & adoptive parents by providing first week home programs, clothing donations, and emotional support. The nonprofit also focuses on empowering moms in their journeys of motherhood regardless of ho they become a mother. This nonprofit supports communities through providing resources for voting, domestic violence, bringing awareness to sex trafficking, and more by partnering with fellow nonprofits, and organizations working to provide support in these realms as well.

This project was created by Monica, Britt, & Ashley to not only bring awareness to hot and important topics surrounding women today, but to also provide resources that assist and aid women in reaching goals they desire to reach, and or act as a community or tribe that welcomes women to share and collaborate with one another, through support of one another.

Monica has spent a significant portion of her career working in the student housing sector, and in doing so, she has noted a significant percentage of young females that lack the confidence and belief in themselves to chase their dreams. Monica is an empowerer of women and strives to encourage and build that confidence in all women she comes across. Additionally, Monica and her husband Danny are empty nesters, & wish to shed more awareness to the ebbs and flows of empty nesting. Often, empty nesting is referred to as your children flying the coop, however, dependent on the family dynamic it is or can be so very much more than just that. Monica learned through her own empty nest experience that there is not enough discussion on what to expect when your littles grow up and essentially fly! Monica and her husband can be found living their best life these days, and have determined they will empty nest like rock stars.

Britt has struggled with infertility, has fostered to adopt, & has built her family through this process. There are so many children in the foster system and her mission is to educate and share that you don’t have to foster or adopt to aid and support children that are in foster care. These big hearted individuals need support as many of the children in care have past traumas to work through. By sharing her journey, she and her husband Jason are very much advocates to grow awareness in and around these subjects. Britt is often on panels working closely with The Call in Northwest Arkansas, and she and Jason can be found listening to and participating in podcasts and panels in their effort to shed awareness.

Ashley, a prior law enforcement officer, spent much of her time on the road dedicating focus on domestic violence and sex trafficking cases. Her mission is to provide resources for those affected by these issues, by providing a safe space to seek help, and guidance in finding the resources that aid individuals and victims of these issues.

The Story Behind The Burning Bra goes as follows, contrary to popular folklore, there were very few bras burned in the protests during the 1960s. There was, however, a historic freedom trash can where women burned items, and those women who didn't burn their bra walked around without wearing one at all. The burning bra or lack of a bra was a symbol of freedom from men. It was the stand against being restricted and held back in any way. The symbolism is the point behind our mission, and that is how we came to create The Burning Bra nonprofit organization.

The Burning Bra is run entirely on support donations and would love to have you be a part of our mission. All funds raised are put towards helping women in the workplace, in the home, and in the community.
