grief
Losing a family member is one of the most traumatic life events; Families must support one another to endure the five stages of grief and get through it together.
Selfless Love or Hidden Selfishness?
Characters: Ethan Carter – A compassionate social worker Sophia Reynolds – An ambitious lawyer Daniel Collins – Ethan’s childhood friend and a skeptic of love --- Ethan Carter had always believed in love—the kind that asked for nothing in return. To him, love was a force that existed beyond personal gain, beyond conditions. He worked tirelessly as a social worker, dedicating his life to helping the less fortunate. His closest friend, Daniel Collins, however, had a different perspective. "Love is just a transaction, Ethan," Daniel often argued. "People give because they expect something back, even if it’s just appreciation or companionship. No one loves without a reason." Ethan would smile and shake his head. "Not everything is about gain, Daniel. Love exists beyond that." But Daniel wasn’t convinced. He believed that even Ethan’s charity work was driven by a need—to feel good about himself, to be seen as noble, or to find a sense of purpose in life. One evening, Ethan met Sophia Reynolds, a sharp and determined lawyer, at a charity fundraiser. She was beautiful, intelligent, and carried an air of confidence that intrigued him. Unlike Ethan, Sophia believed in practicality over emotions. To her, relationships were partnerships built on mutual benefit. However, she was drawn to Ethan’s sincerity, the way he gave without expecting anything in return. Over the next few months, their bond deepened. Sophia admired Ethan’s kindness, and he, in turn, loved her strength and ambition. Yet, despite their love, Sophia couldn’t shake the feeling that Ethan’s selflessness had an unspoken need—to be needed. One evening, as they walked along the riverbank, she asked, "Ethan, why do you love me?" He smiled. "Because I just do, Sophia. There’s no reason, no expectation. I love you for who you are." She frowned slightly. "But isn't love always rooted in something? We love because someone makes us happy, because they support us, because they fulfill something in us." Ethan thought for a moment. "Maybe. But I’d still love you even if you gave me nothing in return." Sophia wasn’t sure how to respond. She wondered—was it truly possible to love without expecting anything? Did love exist in pure selflessness, or was it always tied to some unspoken desire? Time passed, and though they were happy, Ethan received an offer for a prestigious international charity program. It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to expand his work globally, but it meant leaving Sophia behind. He was torn. Daniel, hearing about the dilemma, smirked. "See, Ethan? If your love were truly selfless, you’d leave without hesitation. But you hesitate because you don’t want to lose what she gives you." Ethan was silent. Was Daniel right? Did he, too, have unspoken desires hidden beneath his love? Sophia made the decision for him. "Ethan, you have to go. This is your dream, your purpose. I love you, but I won’t hold you back." Ethan left, and they promised to keep in touch. However, as months passed, their connection faded. Distance created silence, and silence turned into acceptance. Eventually, Sophia moved on, and Ethan continued his work. Years later, they met again at another charity event. Sophia was married, and Ethan was still devoted to his cause. As they talked, she asked, "Do you still believe love is selfless?" Ethan smiled, a little older and wiser. "I believe love is many things. Maybe we all want something, even if it's just to love and be loved. But that doesn’t make love any less real." Sophia nodded, understanding now what she hadn’t before. Love wasn’t about whether it was selfless or selfish—it was simply love, in all its complexities. --- Moral of the story: Love may never be entirely free of personal desires, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t genuine. Whether driven by selflessness or hidden needs, love remains one of the purest emotions a human can experience.

I am Strong For You. Because of You.
Dear Uncle Kell, A lot has happened since you joined your father in heaven. Which, I would hope, is in everlasting peace. Of course, I talk to you all the time, so you know all that has transpired in my life. So, I'll just talk about today and maybe reminisce; on things I've said and things I didn't say. I still have said so little to you, haven't I? I have said this every time we speak and yet I still can't make these words come out. I honestly don't understand myself most of the time. But, I just figured that, maybe what I can't say verbally to you, I'll just write. I'll write it now while I still have the courage to do so. You were never a person who was uncomfortable to speak to, but I envied that carefree nature of yours, that ability to just accept life for what it was and the confidence to just live life as it was. Even now, as an adult, I struggle every day to embody that charisma, and I know I know. Be myself, strut that confidence I naturally have, but I don't think I would even have that without you. Since you left, I have been trying every day to carry your lessons with me and I think I finally made some leeway, but I know I still have a long way to go. I really wish I reached out more and spent a lot more time with you. That is the only regret I really have regarding you. But, it helped me learn to appreciate that one and one time with family that I don't see often. I'd like to get out of my introverted hidey-hole I just haven't chosen yet whom that I would like to have that time with. I'm still very choosy. Things at my job are going well. I'm nearing a year working there consecutively, unlike my previous jobs. There have been a couple bumps here and there but, I am very happy working there. I hope you're proud of me. I know I am very proud of myself for the accomplishments I have made this year. For a time, I had a roadblock from fully attending to my needs. I don't think I need to say what or whom it was. I know you know. Because: Spending a lot of time alone, admittedly lonely, has led me to realize that my happiness doesn't depend on others. Change in my desires for a family was a huge surprise, as I have been pretty resolute in that mindset and want for my life. But, I am okay, being okay with that. I'm okay just being me. Can you believe that? That I made it here? You will forever be my favorite person and biggest motivator to move forward in my life. I'm not saying my family and friends don't inspire that same spark in me. Of course they do! just know that they will ever take your spot on the top of my list and they also know that, so I'm not hurting any feelings by saying this. I hope you're happy and grandpa too joking and talking your shit about the nonsense going on down here. I want to continue with more to say, but I'll just talk to you again when I remember what else I haven't said. Talk to you soon! I love you, always and forever Uncle kelly.

The Shadow of the Crown
The Shadow of the Crown In the dimly lit corridors of the grand palace, where the golden chandeliers cast eerie reflections on the polished marble floors, the true game of power unfolded. The crown was a symbol of authority, yet in its shadow lurked ambition, betrayal, and whispers of rebellion. This was not merely a kingdom bound by laws and lineage but a battleground where loyalty was fleeting and the weight of the throne often rested on treacherous ground.

The Last Leaf
March 5th, 2021. Alina is walking through the streets of London with Rodney, her dearest friend and assistant. Alina was an orange-haired young lady, and she was the nicest to everyone. She always gave a 5 dollar tip to everyone that she bought from. And everybody loved her (ofc)! When she finished buying from the bread stand, she said she felt lightheaded and kindly asked Rodney to help her home. When she got home, she had been coughing so much, and Rodney was worried for her. He escorted her to her bedroom, where he laid her down on her bed. "Now, listen, Alina. Just stay in bed, and I'll take care of everything." Rodney assured her. "Get some rest." he walked out the door. Alina coughed a bit more, and she looked out the window, counting the leaves dropping, until she fell asleep. 3 weeks later, Rodney became even more worried. Alina kept on telling him she was fine, until Rodney gave up and took her to the hospital. They said she had pneumonia, and was to be bed-bound for 5-7 weeks, while being fed (idk pneumonia medicine?) Rodney was terrified for Alina now, as this could very badly "harm" her. He took her home and fed her her medicine every day. Alina counted the leaves outside every day, until there was just one left. She said that when that leaf feel, she would die. She almost predicted right, because one day, Rodney came in with Alina's medicine, but he looked more worried than usual. "Is something wrong, Rodney?" Alina asked him. He looked up at her, and spoke in a low, hoarse voice: "We're out of medicine." They did not have enough money to buy another bottle of medicine, and so there was nothing they could do. It was hopeless.
