IVF Process

1: Ovulation induction

Generally, the doctor monitors the ovaries leading up to during the IVF process to ensure that women release eggs to be fertilized at a particular time. Mostly doctor uses hormones or medications are used to stimulate the ovaries to produce one or more than one eggs.

2: Egg retrieval

The doctor will remove the fluid from the vagina which contains eggs from the follicles of the ovaries under light pain medication with the help of a very thin needle through the upper vaginal wall.

The egg is placed in a dish and transferred to an incubator, immediately after the retrieval of the follicle(s).

3: Fertilization

A sperm sample collected either from a male partner or a donor. Then the sample is analyzed and added to the egg(s) retrieved. Usually, the doctor monitors the fertilization process to ascertain the development of a healthy embryo.

4: Embryo transfer

Embryo transfer is the final step. A speculum is placed into the vagina and embryo(s) are transferred through a tiny plastic tube placed through the cervix into the uterine cavity.
