Jason Statham action and comedy filmπŸ‘ŒπŸ‘ŒπŸ‘πŸ‘

Guy Ritchie's latest film, "Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre," features a star-studded cast and glamorous international locations, but ultimately falls flat due to its lack of stakes and eccentricity. The story follows Orson Fortune, played by Jason Statham, a skilled operative hired by the British government to track down a stolen briefcase containing a mysterious object of world-ending proportions. Orson assembles a small team, including J.J. Davies (Bugzy Malone) and Sara Fidel (Aubrey Plaza), to infiltrate an elite party hosted by billionaire George Simonds (Hugh Grant) on his yacht in order to retrieve the briefcase. Along the way, they encounter warring groups of independent contractors, all after the briefcase, who must be shut down by any means necessary.

Despite the potential for a high-speed, witty caper filled with twists and turns, "Operation Fortune" falls short in several areas. One major issue is the lack of stakes; there is never a clear sense of what is on the line or why the mission is so important. Additionally, the characters are underdeveloped and generic, lacking the eccentricity and quirks that are often found in Ritchie's films. Even the talented cast, including Statham, Grant, and Plaza, are unable to breathe life into their flat and indistinct characters.

One exception is Josh Hartnett's character, Danny Francesco, a narcissistic movie star who becomes embroiled in the mission. As he is whisked away from Hollywood onto a yacht in the Mediterranean by the spy team, he transforms into a different kind of man through the traumatic experience, providing the only real character arc in the film. His presence onscreen lightens the mood and provides a much-needed injection of humor.

While "Operation Fortune" has some elements of parody, it ultimately falls short of being a spoof due to its lack of broadness. Additionally, the film's attempts at suspense, such as delaying the reveal of what's in the briefcase until halfway through the film, fall flat.

Overall, "Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre" is a disappointingly limp affair that fails to live up to the potential of its loaded cast and glamorous locations. The lack of stakes and eccentricity, combined with underdeveloped characters, ultimately result in a caper that doesn't caper at all
