Mother’s Day is a day to celebrate the whole reason that we are here. Our wonderful mothers carried us in their womb, labored for us, and then cared for us as we grew. Their goal was to raise good children. Even if you were adopted, your mother adopted you and gave you a better life than your birth parents were able to.

If your mother was wonderful, you need to show her how much you care by giving her the perfect gift. Though most people assume that it needs to cost a lot of money, there are many affordable gifts that will bring a smile to your mom’s face.

Here are some great gift ideas.

Baby keepsakes. There are many ways you can keepsake your memories. You can give your mom your handprints in cement or even fill a shadow box with pictures and mementos so your mom can remember this time in her life.

Breakfast in bed.

Flowers. You don’t have to buy a dozen roses to show your mother how much you care. Even if you pick a few wildflowers outside, flowers are always appreciated.

Helping around the house. If you don’t have any money to spend, your time is just as important. If you can help your parents clean up the flowerbeds, fix the car, or even do some painting, they will really appreciate it (better than some things that money can buy)!

Homemade gifts. Moms love anything that you make them, from the macaroni necklaces and drawings that their young children make to the scarf that you knitted her in your twenties.

Jewelry. Jewelry can always make a mother smile. Though most people assume that jewelry can be expensive, there are plenty of pieces that are more affordable, while being just as nice!

Personalized gifts. Moms love personalized gifts. Stackable rings with their children’s names on it are perfect. You can also look at getting a necklace with the birthstones of all of her children. You may want to look into a necklace with your writing on it.

Photo gifts. Any gift with your photograph on it is perfect for your mom. You can make a photo book, calendar, mug, keychain, blanket, and much more. There are many companies that offer a way to make gifts with your photos so you can really surprise your mom.

Picnic in the park.

Spending the day together. Moms really enjoy spending time with their children, especially when they have moved away. Even if you just share a meal together or spend some time sitting on the front porch, your time together is precious for your mother.

T-shirts. There are many t-shirts out there that could really speak to your mom. Shirts about being a mom in general, a mom to boys (or girls), or being exhausted are always fun and exciting.

Wine and wine glasses. Most moms love to drink so anytime you can find a neat wine glass, it would work perfectly with a bottle of wine. If your mom isn’t a wine drinker, you may want to give her a coffee mug or even a travel mug so she can drink what she loves the most!

No matter what you come up with for your mother, I am sure that she will appreciate it. It doesn’t even have to cost anything. An afternoon spent together is priceless, especially if you aren’t able to visit as often as she would like you too. If you can make her something or help her around the house, it will be appreciated. You also can’t go wrong with photo and personalized gifts!
