Recap: Jason had admitted to being in love with his male teacher and being gay. Jason is only eight. His parents told him he couldn’t return home. He was removed by social services and placed with a gay couple.

Mr. Johnson told Jason they had recently bought a pit bull puppy and they had named him Buddah. Mr. Johnson let Buddah in and immediately he ran to Jason. Within five minutes Jason had a new friend.

After Mr. Hawthorne left, the men showed Jason around. They told Jason they had two other placements, both boys, who were in the same situation as Jason. When the boys returned they met Jason. Timmy age eleven was beautiful to Jason. Both boys almost bonded immediately. The other boy named Mike was nearly fifteen. He also had a deep interest in Jason.

When Jason went to school the next morning he was in for a surprise. The school had replaced Mr. Jackson with Miss Williams. The school had transferred Mr. Jackson overnight. Jason was devastated, his crush was gone. As Jason moped through his day nothing could or would cheer him up. Jason remembered yesterday how Mr. Jackson had allowed Jason the pleasure of laying his head in his lap. He remembered the tender touch of Mr. Jackson as he stroked his face. He wondered if he would ever be happy again.

Three days after Jason was removed, Mr. Johnson and Martinez had to go to a placement hearing at the Juvenile Domestic and Relations Court. The court is located in downtown Roanoke, Va. The Judge Mrs. Diane Crabtree was presiding.

As social services was laying out their case for the judge, Jason’s parents and their lawyer kept trying to interrupt the proceedings. Eventually, the parents were removed from the court room, while their lawyer proceeded with the case.

After all the testimonies were heard, it was decided it was in the best interest of Jason that he remain in care. The parents were denied supervised visitation until they took a sensitivity class for parents of LGBTQ+ children. Jason’s parents were fuming when they left the court house. The parents informed their lawyer they weren't taking any classes that forced them to raise a faggot, especially when it went against their religious beliefs. Their lawyer informed them failure to accept their child's sexuality was classified as child abuse in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

When Mr. Johnson and Martinez arrived home, they told Jason what happened in court. Jason went off like a bottle rocket. His foster parents let him vent his frustrations. Then it was conversation time for young Jason. As Jason and his foster parents started talking, they explained they could have him going off like he did earlier, They told him they understood his anger, but he had to let the system work for or against him. His next court date was going to be in two months.

That night the men took the boys to Tasty Freez for ice cream, then they went to the Mill Mountain Star. They had a new family portrait taken of the five of them. When they arrived home they gave Jason a new frame so he could put the picture in his room. Jason though happy for this gift, had this deep sinking loneliness feeling feeling inside him. Almost a deep seeded depression of missing his biological family. The foster parents decided they would surprise the Jason by going out and buying him his own pet. Something for him to take care of, they bought Jason a red bearded dragon. Jason was surprised with this gift and named the dragon Stan.

To be continued.
