The steps I'm going to take in 2022 to foster kindness and inclusivity is to bring my 501(c)(3) homeless foundation to Nashville, Tennessee. The foundation is called, "Inner Heroes for Humanity." My foundation involves walking the streets of the inner city and engaging with people that are homeless. I hand out nutritional snacks, water, and most importantly, my time listening and understanding the stories of those who are at ground zero. After experiencing constant cycles of severe depression myself, I attained the skills and strategies to help those rise from ground zero into being heroes. I’ve been a personal trainer for 9 years. I have a fitness business called, “Inner Eye Fitness LLC.” I train clients who are suffering from depression and anxiety as well as bringing my techniques to those experiencing homelessness. My dream is to bring my foundation to every city across the United States. I've already brought my foundation to Chicago, Illinois. Now, it's time to step into the unknown, take a leap of faith, and bring my skills to Nashville, Tennessee.

The key to helping people experiencing homelessness is to have understanding. It’s understanding that they didn’t receive the help when they needed it the most. It’s understanding that they didn’t have the upbringing or environment that gave them the resources to grow as a person. More importantly, it’s looking deep on the inside of a person rather than judging what we see externally. Understanding is what defines love. Love doesn’t see black or white nor does it judge beliefs, views, or past mistakes. Love sees everyone as brother and sister for we are all one big family on this earth. Uni means one and verse means song. Every person is vibrating a lyric, melody, and sound that makes up the one loving song of the universe.

Every person has their own unique story that makes up who they are and what they eventually become. My foundation helps those who are experiencing homelessness discover their true purpose and gifts before they became homeless. It helps them release their past and forgive the ones who hurt them. When the self recalls bad memories, the body releases the same feelings as if that past memory is happening in the present. Forgiveness is always toward our benefit. Everything is a vibration and if one holds onto the past, they attract similar situations in their future. My foundation helps the homeless forgive and forget the past in order to create a new future.

I organize a 12-week visualization practice once a year that invites all people experiencing homelessness to meet on Sunday mornings. During the 12-week visualization practice, each person receives a yoga mat, notebook, nutritional snacks, water, and financial aid. I ran my first 12 week visualization practice last year that grew from 3 people to 40 people experiencing homelessness that met every Sunday for the practice. Out of the 40 people, 1 person started working again and found a job at a local camera shop and 10 of those people are currently filling out applications and engaging in side work activities. The 12-week visualization practice helps the homeless find themselves again and provides them with the skills and confidence to re-engage with society.

The practice starts off with a 10-minute sermon to help people experiencing homelessness realize that they’re not alone. It helps give them hope that they can overcome homelessness and live out their true purpose on this earth. The homeless have the greatest opportunity in creating the greatest story ever told. The darker the suffering before you speaks to the greatness of what’s in store for you. Darkness is a prerequisite to having a big influence in the world. The amount of suffering one goes through speaks to how many people one can understand and connect with. In other words, it gives one the ability to heal others and bring relief to more people that cross one’s path. Struggles, obstacles, and trials are a byproduct of knowledge, wisdom, and understanding that gives one the qualities to raise the vibration of the people around them.

Furthermore, we engage with 10 minutes of breathing exercises to help supply more oxygen to the brain. The breathing regimens help create more theta brain waves giving people the ability to break out of bad habits and form new thought patterns. These breathing techniques help strengthen the prefrontal cortex of the brain as well as reducing activity in the amygdala. The prefrontal cortex is responsible for decision making, organization, and personal development while the amygdala is what gives the self a fight or flight response. By reducing activity in the amygdala, one decreases anxiety and worry. However, anxiety and worry are just sounds. We don’t have to acknowledge or even give those frequencies our attention. For example, when walking downtown, there is an abundance of various sounds, but we don’t hear all the sounds because we are focused on sending a text message or getting to our destination. The breathing exercises that I do with the homeless help to refocus their attention on their light and the gifts they possess within helping them to overcome the sounds of worry and anxiety.

Then, we do a 10 minute visualization technique where I have the people visualize the bright future and new life that is in store for them. Visualization helps form new neural connections in the brain aiding one’s ability to break out of their old ways. When engaging in regular habits and routines, we form brain patterns that become habitual. We then begin to form these habits unconsciously without even thinking of it. Through visualization, we break these old brain networks helping to form new positive thought patterns, habits, and routines. Also, I have the homeless repeat certain affirmations during the visualization technique. By repeating positive affirmations within, we light up other regions in the mind that form new brain circuits and connections. Over time with consistency, the new positive brain connections begin to overtake the old brain networks that gave the self negative habits and thought patterns. The path to enlightenment or what I call, “light within the mind,” is a very destructive process. We are literally breaking the old in order to form the new, rejuvenated, and revived self.

Finally, we engage with 30 minutes of light fitness exercises and stretches. These exercises help reduce inflammation as well as helping to release more endorphins in the brain that aid focus, mood, and energy. Also, by engaging in these exercises, we turn on positive genes. There are billions of cells in the body and encrypted into cells are genes. If we were to take out a person's genes, they would literally stretch out 11 billion miles long. Through these exercises, we activate 11 billion miles of knowledge, wisdom, and understanding found within the soul of every person who walks the earth. By turning on good genes, we help the homeless discover their true talents that will soon be brought to light for the world to see. We close the practice by giving the homeless wellness techniques to work on during the week along with a snack bag, water, and some financial aid.

Again, we are all one big family on this earth. No one deserves to be homeless. We have enough resources on the planet for everyone to have food, water, and shelter. Materialistic possessions and accomplishments will always die, but the words you speak to others get carried on from generation to generation. Together, we can all help those battle at ground zero in order to rise and become heroes!
