Imagine you are the only survivor on earth

Sole survivor

By Newmann Anane-AboagyePublished about a year ago 3 min read

Imagine this: It's a beautiful Sunday morning, and you awaken from your bed, stretching as you rise. You open your window to reveal a breathtaking day with clear skies. However, something seems amiss. The usually bustling streets are completely deserted. Where did everyone go?

As you take a closer look, you realize with surprise that you are the only soul left on this planet. What would be your next move? The answer is simple: anything and everything your heart desires. The world is now your playground, and you have the freedom to create your own adventure. Want to speed through the freeway in a sports car? Go ahead, as there is no traffic to hinder you. Feel like playing golf from the top of a skyscraper? Why not? Breaking a window or two with your golf ball is inconsequential. Have you always dreamed of living in a massive mansion? Now you can. The possibilities before you are endless, and there is nothing to stop you from experiencing them all.

But after indulging in excitement and thrill, you start pondering the question of "what's next?" Perhaps it's time to get down to business and uncover the reason behind the world's sudden emptiness. Could there be anyone else out there? You might search the city and venture beyond its limits. However, the vastness of the world may prevent you from encountering another living soul. The thought alone can be a bit terrifying. So, let's focus on more important matters, such as how you will survive in this desolate wasteland that is now your kingdom.

The first task on your to-do list is finding food and clean water. Although you may have a good supply for some time, perishable items like fruits and vegetables won't last indefinitely without electricity. It's best to consume them first before they spoil. You also need to consider your water source. Initially, scavenge every bottle of water you can find from nearby stores. However, you will eventually run out of bottled water, and filtering your water supply will become vital for long-term survival. Acquiring a portable water filter will allow you to cleanse water from any source and drink it safely.

After enjoying all the perishable food items you had stocked up on, it's time to think about long-term food supplies. Without electricity, rely on non-perishable items like rice, beans, and canned goods. These will be your dependable companions in your quest for survival. As time passes, consider learning how to grow your own food to ensure sustainable sustenance.

Medical supplies are crucial in a world without anyone to provide medical assistance. Raid as many pharmacies as you can find and stock up on future supplies. Being extra cautious is essential since there won't be any doctors around to help with serious injuries.

In this new world, you'll need to acquire a variety of survival skills to keep going. Hunting, first aid, cooking, and other essential skills become vital. Libraries and bookstores, once overlooked, become your gateway to becoming the ultimate survival expert. While the internet is no longer available, you'll learn to rely on traditional methods.

Having survival gear at your disposal can be a lifesaver. Carrying a versatile hiking toolbox with essential tools can help you navigate and stay safe in both wilderness and urban environments.

While solitude may initially appeal to you, eventually, companionship becomes essential. Consider getting a pet or building a personal connection with another living being. Just be cautious of choosing animals that won't pose a threat to your safety.

Although you have the world at your fingertips and can reside in any mansion, palace, or hotel, living in luxury can grow tiresome, and these buildings will deteriorate without maintenance. Consider venturing away from the city and choose a place to settle down, avoiding extreme weather conditions that could pose challenges for survival.

Don't forget about clothing. While raiding stores for fashionable outfits might be tempting, prioritize functional clothing for survival. Make sure you have suitable attire for every season and keep warm clothes and blankets readily available.

While being the last human on Earth may sound disheartening, there are numerous ways to entertain yourself. In addition to honing your survival skills, you can learn new hobbies, such as drawing, sculpting, or writing your own book. With no competition, you can unleash your creativity without limits.

Remember to maintain your communication skills, whether by talking to yourself or your pet parrot, to prevent forgetting how to use your own voice.
