How Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, Is Adjusting to Motherhood

In just one year, Meghan Markle encountered a lot of major events in her life. She became a royal with the designation of Duchess of Sussex on May 19, 2018. Before her first wedding anniversary, she was already a mother. Her son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, was born on May 6, 2019. That was not even a complete year later.

So, how is the Duchess of Sussex handling those highlights especially while being in the spotlights?

Always in the Spotlight

While being criticized in the spotlight, Meghan has always been surrounded by those close to her. The support she is receiving from her husband and her many friends is helping her to stay strong. Whenever she is photographed, she is always smiling.

Meghan was in the spotlight before she married Prince Harry. However, being an actress on the legal drama Suits once a week on the television screen with limited viewers was nothing like being in the public eye almost on a daily basis.

The Duchess of Sussex has definitely been under the microscope since she began dating Prince Harry in June 2016. After she married him and became the Duchess of Sussex, more and more people began to take an interest in her and commented on everything she did and didn't do.

Meghan Markle's Pregnancy

When the pregnancy of the Duchess of Sussex was announced in October 2018, all kinds of rumors came out about her. Some people said she wasn't really pregnant but was using a pad under her clothes and a surrogate would give birth to a baby for the royal couple. Others complained about her maternity outfitsand the way she constantly cradled her belly.

Critics found fault with Meghan because she and Prince Harry wanted privacy surrounding the birth of their first child. They were criticized because they did not show their baby on the steps of St. Mary's Hospital, which had been the tradition of Prince William and Kate Middleton when their three children were born.

Some people spoke out negatively about the name Prince Harry and Meghan chose for their son. They named him Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. Some people thought they should have given him a more royal name.

The comments have not stopped since Archie has been born. There have been negative comments that the royal parents have refused to reveal who Archie's godparents are.

When the new mom was seen in public holding her newborn, some complained on social media that she was not holding him the proper way.

The average mother deals with postpartum and baby blues after the birth of a child. Meghan has had to deal with more than most mothers while being criticized in the spotlight. Two Duchesses Bond Over Motherhood

People made negative comments when Prince Harry and Meghan moved to Frogmore Cottage so they could have more privacy for their family. Many accused them of feuding with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Even though the media has compared the two duchesses and tried to pit them against the other, Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, has been very supportive of Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex. Kate has three young children ages five, four, and one. Therefore, she has plenty of advice to share about being a new mother.

According to Fox News and other reports, Kate and Meghan have bonded over motherhood and showing the world that they are not rivals. They were seen together at the tennis game at Wimbledon where Meghan's friend Serena Williams was competing. Kate consoled Meghan when Serena lost the match. They were also seen at a polo match where their husbands participated. Prince William won the match. Again, the two duchesses were together recently when their children were on a playdate.
