Gifts For a Kid Who Has It All

I have put Christmas shopping off a lot more than I should’ve this year. Normally, I buy things all throughout the year. Obviously, 2020 has not been a normal year for anyone. Since I put it all off until the (almost) last moment, I have found myself racking my brain on what I should get my daughter this year. Her room literally looks like a toy store exploded, so before I started any shopping, I went through her room and had her pick and choose what she wanted to keep and what she wanted to give to some kids that can’t afford to have an kind of extravagant present mountains on Christmas morning. Surprisingly, she donated a LOT more than I thought she would, so that made things a lot easier for me.

Seeing how many toys she really does have and DOESN’T play with, I didn’t want to go broke just buying her a bunch of toys I know she wouldn’t play with beyond December. It took me a couple days, but I finally thought of the perfect gift ideas for her. She’s in Pre-K, so she’s in a crucial learning stage right now. I decided to make all of her presents educational in some way. I didn’t even think about that last Christmas or even on her birthday. Yes, she has a lot of learning toys and gadgets, but there’s a lot she doesn’t have.

Don’t take this advice with a grain of salt! If your child is elementary school age or younger, try to stick with educational gifts. They don’t all have to be like ABCs or how to count to 10. That shit is boring and they will learn that in school. I’m going to link some of the toys I got my daughter this year. Seeing that I am not the richest person in the world, these gifts are budget friendly.

Side note: Stocking stuffers should be fun little gifts and gadgets!

Leapfrog Leap Reader

This is a 10 book bundle and comes with a little touch pen. If your child is just learning to read or still learning their ABCs, this one will be perfect! It is $49, but it really is the best present! My daughter’s preschool teacher actually helped me with this one. She just finished her ABCs and now she’s on site words. The Leap Reader comes with a rechargeable pen and 10 books. When you touch the pen on the words in the book, it says what the word is.

Lite Brite

Okay, I had one of these as a kid and I just used it to make ridiculous little kid art. This one is outside of the box. I got this for my daughter to be hands on with her learning. When kids use their hands or fun objects, they will memorize their material a lot faster. Learning has to be made fun for them! I’m super excited for her to use this gift!

Play-Doh Number Bucket Set

All parents dread letting their kids have Play-Doh, even me. Rethink that horrendous feeling! I only let me daughter play with it when she needs a little extra pep in her step. At her age, they’ve started giving her homework, so when she doesn’t understand something, I whip out some Play-Doh and have her make the letters or numbers. It really is a game changer! Unfortunately, I have to buy this gift every year because pieces end up missing and the Play-Doh is dried out. The link I provided is for Walmart and I didn’t spend that absurd amount of money on this bucket set, so probably go with Amazon or a dollar store!

iTech Jr Kid's Smartwatch

Don’t come for me on this one! Obviously, kids break everything they touch. This watch is super cheap and such a great learning tool! It will help your child learn how to tell time and all that jazz. There’s games on it, an mp3 player, a front camera, etc. My daughter has lost all the ones I have gotten her before, but I keep buying them because they have helped her SO MUCH. She’s 4 and she can tell me what time it is. Go for it!

vTech Kidizoom Camera

A camera?! How is that educational?! TRUST ME KAREN, IT IS. I got this one for my daughter last year and it is the one consistent thing she uses. I’m teaching her the value of moments and how to capture them. Don’t expect some high quality pictures, but it’s a great investment to learn how to capture meaningful events and experiences. It’s really amazing to see what your child finds important. You get to see what moments they want to save and relive later on. There’s, also, games on it that are great learning tools.

vTech Drill & Learn Toolbox

Your child is never too young to learn about different careers or how to fix things around the house. No, they aren’t real tools, but it’s a hands on gift. You’ll get to see if that is an activity that your child enjoys and wants to excel in. My daughter loves helping me when I’m working on my car or decorating the house. Expose your child to everything possible!

These are some of the bigger gifts I got her. The other things were cheaper, but they are still wonderful learning tools! My favorite store to get her gifts from is Five Below.

Everything is 5 dollars or less and amazing quality! More than half of my daughter’s gifts are from there.

Some things I got from Five Below are:

• Coloring books

• Painting activities

• Outside learning things

• Stocking stuffers

• Board games

• Room décor

• School supplies

Stocking stuffers

I can’t narrow this down to one store because I got some stuffers from a lot of different stores. Most people don’t actually put things in their stocking, but I started this tradition when I had my daughter. It’s so helpful for small gifts and candy.

Things I put in her stocking:

• Crayons

• Jewelry

• Thermos

• Small candy

• Nail polish

• Fun hair brush

• Bath painting toys

Christmas is a struggle for any parent and advice is the perfect present for us! I know this holiday makes me cry from the stress, so I hope I’m able to alleviate some of that for you.
