FUN & SAFE SUMMER ACTIVITIES FOR THE KIDS!

Hey hey hey! It’s officially summer time and I know that now that school is out, you are trying to figure out what to do with the kiddos to keep them occupied over the summer!

Also, with all that is still going on with the heebie-jeebies out there I know it’s also going to be super important to stay as safe as possible too!

Guess wha though… I am here to give you the scoop on some fun things that you can do with your littles during the summer to keep them occupied while keeping things as safe as possible!

Obviously one of the first things I’m always going to recommend is getting outside! It’s an awesome opportunity for the kids to enjoy a little bit of nature and get some great vitamin D… It’s also a great opportunity to learn about different things like animals, plants, etc.! (depending on how young your kids are)

You know me… I love making every experience into a learning experience and playtime is one of the best ways to engage your kids to not only learn but also incorporate some fun in it too!

Here are some fun ideas for some summertime fun OUTDOORS:

Going to a local playground

Taking a hike

Going to a local pool

Take the kids to a local Fair or Carnival! With there being so many fun fairs and carnivals that take place during the summertime, you most definitely should check out your local municipality to find out if there are any fairs or carnivals coming your way and that’s an amazing fun weekend activity to take part in!

Taking the kids fishing

Turn on the water hose or the sprinkler and have some old fashion fun! Before all of this new age stuff (lol)… I grew up as a kid just running through the sprinkler and using the hose to have some fun outside! Nowadays you can find awesome inflatable water slides that you can inflate and fill up with water to have some fun in the sun right in your backyard!

We also had a water balloon fight one summer afternoon! We got the whole family involved and had everyone over with each person bringing a dish… And we made a whole event out of it! We had an amazing time and of course the kids had a blast!

* Sidenote: If you are thinking about having a water balloon fight… I highly recommend getting Bunch of Balloons! They were amazing and you literally can blow up MULTIPLE water balloons at the exact same time!

Outdoor activities are always going to be something I’m going to encourage because you’re able to be outside in the elements and enjoy the weather but it also allows you to be mask-less as well!

Here are some fun INDOOR activities for the kids:

Take them to your local gym to take part in the kids activities offered.

Go to the MOVIES! Although you can go to a movie with the general public, I would also highly recommend looking into renting a movie theater just for your family to watch a movie! They are relatively inexpensive and if you catch a movie that is a little older or came out last year… The tickets are even cheaper! Having the movie theater to yourselves is awesome because the kids can be as loud as they want and you don’t have to worry about them disturbing others watching the movie. A lot of theaters also offer the option to have up to 20 people in a rented movie theater so if you wanted to do this for a birthday party or a gathering or celebration of some sort or just generally to have a good time you can invite friends and family as well to take part in the movie with you!

Going to a local library and taking advantage of some reading time. Nowadays a lot of libraries also have fun areas where there are computers and play areas where the kids can go and have a good time and get some learning in too.

Go camping INDOORS… When Covid hit two years ago we got super creative with a lot of the things that we did to keep the kids occupied and we had such a blast camping indoors! We ended up getting a tent that we put up inside the house...we ordered pizza and put out a picnic blanket and just really had a good time with it! We even turned YouTube on our TV and pulled up a fireplace so that we had a faux fire in front of us to act as if we were literally camping outside and the kids had a blast!

Play board games or some fun active games like “The Floor is Lava”! We play this all the time and not only do the kids have a ball...us parents do too!

If you’ve been following my journey for a while you know that we absolutely love to bake so that’s always a fun way to engage the kids in something that’ll keep them occupied and of course the treat at the end is the dessert that you made with the kids!

I hope these ideas help as you navigate through this first part of summer! I promise you these activities are great ways to entertain your kiddos! Not only that...but us parents get to have some fun too!
