We’re here today to celebrate the life of Lynn. A fiercely gracious spirit who’s gentle heart touched us all. A mother, grandmother, sister and aunty; Lynn blessed many with her feminine bohemian beauty.

As her sister; Wendy was envious of Lynn’s carefree presence and her blonde beachy waves. She was the laid back surfer chic with looks admired by many. Lynn wore her heart on her sleeve, and gave it away to many. Popular with the girls, she was even more so with the boys. Lynn broke many hearts along her way.

As a little girl growing up on the Island, Lynn would pick flowers with her sister Wendy. She would go to great lengths to pick the prettiest she could find. Never mind the cliff edge that fell to her on the side, her Dad and siblings knew it was best to leave her be.

“Don’t scare her, or else she will fall.”

Her ignorance was her bliss, it’s what kept her safe.

The day Scott was born, Lynn and Wendy played outside the hospital. They rolled down the hill that was covered in soft clover grass. As children on the farm; Lynn, Wendy and Scott played with the animals and tried riding wooly rams.

The cousins farm in Grenfell was where she spent her youth. The kids ate porridge made by Aunt Jan, topped with fresh cows milk collected that morning. Lynn and Wendy hunted for freshly laid chook eggs with their cousins Jeniffer, Joan & Susan. A cubby build with the cousins was where Wendy and Lynn spent their days. With weeping branches with little red berries, the peppercorn tree sheltered the children’s mystical world of make believe.

Lynn was the sister who kept secrets from Mum and Dad. When Scotty was thirteen, she busted him with his head in the fridge fixing a serious case of the munchies.

Scotty was her younger-older-brother. He was the one telling the guys at the pub ‘that’s my sister mate, piss off.’

As a child and throughout her life — Lynn found joy in the little things. A gemstone for each chakra, and incense for every mood; these were the small treasures Lynn was drawn to.

A self proclaimed white witch with inherited strength and beauty; adorned in silver and mystical stones, Lynn cast her spell on us all.

Simple was her true nature, ditzy on occasion — God bless her. If her hair blew into her eyes she’d probably loose her way.

As a mother, she’ll be remembered for her hugs. A warm embrace when words just weren’t enough. Though, she was never shy to tell her kids to ‘toughen up’, when needed.

She was never shy to bum a ciggie, and quick to charge the kids if they asked. Lynn loved a laugh over a competitive game of Monopoly, or a drunken kitchen boogie with her Son.

The challenges she went through made her family stronger. With a young family, Lynn sacrificed a lot. Her children never went without, at times that meant she did.

As a doting Grandmother to her daughters son Blaze — her little ray of sunshine was the apple of her eye. The moments she shared with Emma and Blaze, melted her gentle heart.

She was the cooling strokes on her children’s foreheads whenever they were sick. She was Mauritius perfume and freshly coated nails. She was the patio filled with potted plants, she was the home with all the shells. She was rock n roll, she was bohemian gypsy, she was strong, she was soft.

We are here today to celebrate Lynn’s life and her legacy within us all. She is the warmth from the sun, the comfort in the moon, the joy in a baby’s smile — she is held in all our hearts.

Words for Mum

Thank you

For all that you have given me,

and for everything you have not.

Thank you for sharing time and space.

Thank you for the creation

And for nurturing all that I am.

I hope for more time to nurture all that is you.

There isn’t much left — time,

It was never yours nor mine.

There had been times when we demanded more,

for it to slow down, or for it to jump ahead.

If I could ask for it to stop

I’d ask it now If I could.

Thank you,

For your forgiveness.

The evolution of my being causing empathic pains.

I feel yours now.

Thank you,

You offered me your all.

It all seemed so little but it was all you had to give.

Your gracious acceptance of all that was dark

Only to hold it and make it —Light

That is what you are.

The guidance from above, the golden midnight star.

Just as Luna’s light brightens the sky of the night,

So will your memory, deep within our hearts.

Rest easy now Mumma, you are at peace.

Rest easy now Mumma, you’ve returned home.

**Some words Lynn wrote her children, a short time before her passing.

In the infinity of life where I am; all is perfect, whole and complete. I am always divinely protected and guided. It is safe for me to look into my past. It is safe for me to enlarge my viewpoint of life. I am far more from my personality, what I see and feel. I am far more than my past, present and future.

I now choose to rise above my time spent on this earth, to recognise the magnificence of my being. I am totally willing to love myself.

All is well in my World, I am at Peace.

I embrace all that is life.
