Deliverance

Alone

By TAMMY SLATERPublished 5 years ago • 1 min read

Rising up from the dust, gasping for air, I can see the light of the sun, but there’s a stale silence within the air that frightens me, I feel alone. Lost! What happened!? I can’t remember my name, who am I!?! Where am I!?! I don’t understand!

I pick myself up and start to wander aimlessly looking for someone, anyone, where do I go!?! I’m tired, I’m so tired, I need to find shelter. I look around and there’s no one, no one in sight, just dust. No buildings, I’m so frightened, I feel like my heart is going to explode.

I start to yell. “Is there anyone who can hear me?” Dead silence, not a peep or other creature in sight. I sit down to rest, it’s like a cloud of dust, a mist even, like I’m floating within the air and no floor to see, just a misty grayish fog!?!

Is anyone here? Please, anyone? I lay in the fog, praying to the lord, “Please, please help me” “I’m so sorry for anything I could have done to cause this chaos, please, please save me” “I don’t want to be alone anymore, please save me Lord”

Silence looms the air and I fall asleep in a misty haze.

Awoken by a bird, atlas, I’m not alone. I sit up, I feel so refreshed, I remember my name, I know who I am, I’m home again, in my room, with my heart shaped locket in my hand.

I remember now, my mother told me if I ever felt so alone to open this locket and it will bring me back to life.

“I don’t feel alone anymore!”
