Dealing With Hyper Active Kid

Every Parents Dilemma

By Neha MehtaPublished 3 years ago 2 min read

Children are one full musical concert. They have amazing energy, they enjoy everything. But being their audience might be a tough task for parents regardless of working, work from home or home makers.

This pandemic has affected worst on children. As they don’t have anywhere to go even socialization is being restricted leaving them with no choice than stick to gadgets. There is chaos all the time as a parent you are concern about your kids and on the other hand kids are constantly at home and expected to stare at a screen resulting them to get hyper in nature.

Hyperactivity may be described as an excessive level of activity in a child compared to what is normally expected for their age. And when dealing with these sweet little monsters, parents need lots of positivity and calmness to handle such situation maturely.

Now let us understand what are characteristic of hyperactivity:

1. Talks excessively.

2. Cannot sit in situation in which they are expected to. (eg. Often leave their class for some or the other reason, attending rituals etc.)

3. Can’t wait in queue for their turn.

4. Sleep deprived.

5. Eating all the time.

Hyperactive children may feel restless or need to stay busy. It’s not a harmful thing until it doesn’t affect child’s performance at home, school or in social circle.

The question arises what can be done to manage such situation?

1. Channelize child’s energy: Try to analyze your child’s energy in physical activity such as yoga, cycling dancing etc as per their interest.

2. Get involved: Try to get involved in their activity which gives them sense of togetherness and they will feel less lonely.

3. Engage them: Engage them in activity which uses their body and mind well like clay molding, mechanic, or reading, resulting into fruitful activeness.

4. A little help: Kids love to get involve in household activities and a bit of their help for the same will reduce your work stress too.

5. Meditation & Sleep: Last but not the least meditation will help to calm their mind and body resulting in a good sleep which is must for any healthy human being.

Every child is different and so is their needs. As a parent we have to decide what is good for our children and act accordingly.

Kudos to all the parents who have and are managing things so well in this pandemic.
