LITTLE MONSTER GOES TO SCHOOL

Ohwhere, a little 9 year old green monster with bright sky blue hair, was very happy when he woke up on Monday morning. That's because it was a school day and Ohwhere really loved school.

His teacher, a tall rainbow colored monster with matching rainbow colored hair, really enjoyed having Ohwhere in her class. Ohwhere was always really well behaved and was a joy to teach. He was usually the first one to arrive at school, where he hurried to sit at his desk.

Miss Wowee entered the classroom and began to take roll. "Ohwhere?" "Here!" "Beb-Beb?" "Here!" "Beeb Beeb?" "Here!" "Bee Bee?" "Here!" "Hi Bee?" "Here!" "Thib Bib?" "Here!" "Hi Baybee?" "Here!" "Bay-Bay?" "Here!" Now that roll call was over, it was time to start the lessons.

First, Miss Wowee started off with learning the current month, day of the week, and year. It was June 9, 2023. Miss Wowee called Thib Bib up to write it on the chalkboard. Thib Bib, a tall but shy bright red monster with orange hair, tried hunching down as small as he could as he slid from his desk in the back of the classroom to come to the front to complete his task. With a shaking hand, Thib Bib did as he was asked.

Next, it was time to turn in homework. Everyone reached under their desks, opened their backpacks, and put their homework on their desks. Beeb Beeb and Beb-Beb, identical twin blue monsters with purple hair, folded their homework papers into airplanes, which they threw at Miss Wowee's desk. The paper planes, as usual, landed on her desk. Miss Wowee smiled at their antics, walked over to her desk, unfolded the airplanes, and added their homework to the pile.

After picking up homework, it was time to do Language Arts. Language Arts is reading and writing. Today, Miss Wowee walked over to a box hidden behind her desk, picked it up, and set it down onto her desk. "Who would like to pass out the book that I have chosen for all of you to write a book report on?"she asked, smiling at all of her students. Miss Wowee was a very happy teacher with a personality as bright as her rainbow colored skin and matching hair.

Several hands, tentacles, and tails shot up into the air. Thib Bib shrank down, trying to hide behind his desk. Without being asked, Beeb Beeb blurted out, "Can Beb Beb and I fold the books into airplanes and throw them?" At his question, Miss Wowee replied, "No, Beeb Beeb. You and Beb Beb may not fold the books into airplanes and throw them." At this, both Beeb Beeb and Beb Beb's hands dropped. To both of them, not being able to fold anything into a paper airplane meant that it was something not worth doing.

With a huge smile, Ohwhere raised his hand. He was the shortest kid in class, but he made up for it by having the biggest personality. Ohwhere enjoyed being helpful and he was happiest whenever he was actively participating in class. Still smiling and with his hand in the air, Ohwhere waited patiently for Miss Wowee's answer. Noticing the very eager look on Ohwhere's face, Miss Wowee smiled, pointed directly to him, and said, "Ohwhere, you may pass out the books."

Ohwhere's smile got ever better as he leapt up out of his seat to go to the front of the classroom and to the box of books. As he peered down, he couldn't help but notice the title: "A Monster's Guide To Humans". As he passed out the books to his classmates before taking one for himself, Ohwhere couldn't help but wonder what the book was about. As they were all shrink wrapped in plastic, he couldn't secretly open a book to take a peek inside.

After Ohwhere was done and had returned to his seat, Miss Wowee turned to face the class, pointing to what she had written on the chalkboard while Ohwhere was passing out the books. There on the green chalkboard, in bold white letters, was a single question: "Do you believe that humans exist? Why or why not?" Ohwhere reached into his backpack, pulled out his notebook, and copied Miss Wowee's questions inside of it.

"Book reports will be due in 3 days before summer school ends," she said. "In the meantime, sit and write down your answers to the questions on the chalkboard. Ill set the timer for 25 minutes. And start."

For several minutes, the class stared blankly at their papers before picking up their pens and writing down their answers, pausing several times to think about the question. When the timer dinged, all of the monsters set their pens down and looked up at Miss Wowee as she walked around the classroom collecting their papers. As she did so, she glanced at each one, nodding at some and trying to keep a straight face with others. After she collected everyone's papers and set them down on her desk, she turned and faced the class. "All of you have given very creative and well thought out answers," Miss Wowee said. "Your homework will be to read the first chapter of, "The Monster's Guide To Humans" and answer questions based on what you read when you come to school tomorrow."

The rest of the school day was pretty typical. They had math, science, art, PE, technology, and social studies. As usual, everybody but the PE coach gave them homework to do. Before they knew it, school was over and it was time to go home.

On the way home, Ohwhere was deep in thought about his answer to the question that Miss Wowee wrote on the chalkboard about humans. It was one that had really given him pause and sparked the following thoughts: What if someone spots a human, captures them, and takes them everywhere in a cage just to show them off? Or even if someone shows a body of one? Would it be right, if they were just like us? If they had our level of thinking?

It is here that I've been stuck for months on Cody's bedtime story. Honestly, I have no clue how to finish it. Any and all help on this story is greatly appreciated in the comments. Happy reading!
