Abandoned Haunted House

Horror story

By Agus SusantoPublished 3 days ago 3 min read

On the edge of a small, quiet town, there is an old house known as the "Abandoned Ghost House". Rumors about the house have been circulating among residents for decades. Mystical stories and unexpected events always adorn the stories about that house. However, one night, everything changed. The night wind blew coldly, making dry leaves rustle in the unkempt yard. The moon shone brightly, illuminating the building where most of the paint had peeled off and the windows were boarded up with planks. This house once belonged to the Hartono family, who left it suddenly without leaving a trace. It is still fresh in the village residents' memories when the Hartono family disappeared. They were a very rich family in the village, who suddenly disappeared in one dark night. Stories circulated that strange sounds were often heard from the house at night. Some even swore they saw shadows moving in the upper windows late at night. One of the villagers, a young man named Agung, was always curious about these stories. He is the type of person who doesn't believe in supernatural things, and always wants to find out the truth behind every mystical story. One night, Agung decided to visit the haunted house alone.

His steps were heavy as he crossed the rusty gate. The cracked door proudly stood in front of him. Agung took a deep breath before finally pushing open the door and entering a dark room filled with dust. Inside, the air felt damp and still. Agung's restrained steps resulted in the sound of steps echoing throughout the pitch black hallway. He turned on the flashlight he was carrying, highlighting every neglected corner of the room. Around him, old objects were piled neatly, implying a past full of life. Suddenly, Agung felt a change in the air. The atmosphere around him started to feel more tense. The flashlight he carried would occasionally flicker, as if an invisible presence was trying to disrupt its light. However, Agung still tried to remain calm. As he went deeper, he heard the sound of unfamiliar footsteps. The voice seemed to be chasing him from behind the walls or upstairs. His heart was racing, but his great curiosity continued to drive him to continue his exploration. No matter how scary it was, he wanted to know the truth behind all the stories he had heard.

In a remote room at the end of the hall, Agung found an old diary lying on a fragile wooden table. Carefully, he opened the diary page by page. In it, the experiences and events of the Hartono family were recorded before they disappeared. Reading every word in the diary, Agung became increasingly caught up in the dark story that surrounded the family. Suddenly, the lights in the room flickered wildly, casting eerie shadows on the walls. He felt that there was a strong presence around him, making him get goosebumps and want to run away immediately. However, before he could move, a loud voice came from upstairs. Agung raised his gaze and saw a large shadow moving quickly towards the stairs. Without thinking, Agung immediately ran towards the exit. He felt his hands feel cold, as if someone was gripping them tightly, trying to keep him inside. With all his strength, Agung pushed himself out of the house. He ran as fast as he could, leaving the abandoned haunted house behind him. Cold sweat ran down his back, and he felt adrenaline still flowing through him. After that night, Agung never visited the house again. He decided not to disturb any more of the silence and mystery that enveloped the place. The abandoned haunted house remains a scary story circulating in the village, and Agung keeps the story of his experience with a pounding heart.
