The son made a brief visit to his hometown to see his parents, but was constrained by time to just one day and night before he had to depart at 5:30 am the following morning. On the night before he left, he engaged in a deep and intimate conversation with his mother, causing him great concern and worry.
"As much as it pains me to leave so soon, I'm afraid I must go," the son confided in his mother. "But rest assured, next time I visit, I promise to spend more time with you. I hope to sit down together and enjoy some leek dumplings like we used to when I was a child, cradled safely in my arms."
After the son went to bed, the mother couldn't sleep and went to another room to wake her husband. She urgently whispered to him, "Old man, please hurry and ask around to see who has leeks in their vegetable garden. Our son is craving leek dumplings, and I need you to get some for me so I can make them."
The father quickly understood his wife's request and got out of bed, dressing himself in a hurry. "I'll go and look for leeks," he replied. The mother reminded him to be quiet so as not to wake their son, who was fast asleep. It was already late at night, and the weather outside was quite cold. Undeterred, the father began to go from door to door, asking for leeks from the various vegetable gardens he came across. After knocking on dozens of doors, he finally found someone who was willing to lend him some leeks. Even though the vegetable gardens were quite far away and walking the night road was not easy, the father persevered and managed to return home at around eleven o'clock with the leeks he had managed to gather.
The elderly couple then began to pick and wash the leeks. It was already almost morning by the time they had collected over two pounds of leeks, and they began to roll the dumpling skins and stuff them with the leeks. These tasks would not have taken too long under normal circumstances, but everything was done in the dim light of a flashlight because the old couple did not want to disturb their son's slumber. Eventually, they finished all the work, but it was already 3 am by then.
At 5:30 a.m., their son's alarm clock rang on time. When he woke up and opened his eyes, he could smell the scent of familiar leek dumplings growing stronger and stronger. Finally, as he entered the kitchen, he found a large pot of freshly steamed leek dumplings waiting for him.
"Eat the leek dumplings while they're hot, it's your favorite. Remember to brush your teeth afterwards. You go ahead and eat first," mother said
The mother placed the hot, fragrant white leek dumplings into the bowl and handed it to her son. He was surprised that she remembered his accidental words and had made his favorite dumplings just for him. He felt overwhelmed with emotion knowing that his parents, who were in their 60s, stayed up late just to make these dumplings for him. As he held the bowl filled with steaming hot dumplings, the delicious aroma filled his senses and he felt like crying.

It's important to value and cherish your parents while you still have them, as the time you get to spend with them is limited. Parents are individuals who love their children unconditionally and are always happy to see them, even if they don't show it. They cook all of your favorite meals and make sure that your visit is special.
When you leave, they still do everything they can to make you happy. They preserve your favorite dishes and make sure to prepare them for you the next time you come back. They lose sleep worrying about your return and set alarms to make sure that they don't oversleep and miss picking you up.
It's essential to appreciate the love and affection that your parents have for you. Take nothing for granted and always show them how much you appreciate them by spending time with them, listening to their stories, and lending a helping hand whenever possible. Not everyone is fortunate enough to have parents or a home to return to, so cherish and value these blessings.
