Lately, there is a tendency to own pets. However, many parents do not agree that it is worth keeping the pet when a baby appears in the family.

The fears are different - allergy, hygiene, trauma, etc. Some reasons are justified. Indeed, some animals can be dangerous, that do not understand children. Moreover, some small breeds can be much more dangerous than large breeds.

But animals are different! And if you take the time to study the peculiarities of each breed, you will find a true friend who will not harm your child.

If the little one is more than three years old, you can ask for his opinion. Maybe he doesn't want a cat or a puppy, but a fish, a parrot, a hamster, or a turtle? Listen to his opinion, but in no case do you adopt a pet that is not compatible with the conditions of the house or the temperament of family members.

And one more thing, see if the little one wants to adopt a pet. For example, after the film "101 Dalmatians", all the children asked their parents to give them a Dalmatian puppy, which would soon arrive at the animal shelter because the family could not cope with its active temperament.

However, there are at least 10 good reasons to have a pet in your home.

Responsibility.

Animals need to be fed, bathed, walked, and loved. These tasks require time and care. Children who own pets easily develop a sense of responsibility because they care for a pet that is dependent on them. This sense of responsibility will inevitably be reflected in other aspects of a child's life.

It is important not to put all the responsibility of caring for the pet on the child's shoulders. For example, a small child can feed, clean, and teach a pet a simple trick. But training and treatment should remain the responsibility of adults.

Trust.

Children need to learn to feel confident, and owning a pet is the perfect way to do that. When a child manages to fulfill the responsibilities of caring for a pet, he or she will begin to develop self-confidence. Children will begin to feel good about themselves and be proud of their accomplishments.

Over time, these feelings will quickly begin to spread to other aspects of a child's life.

Allergy and asthma resistance.

Children who grow up with pets at home begin to develop resistance to allergens from an early age. Exposure to dandruff or pet hair will help children develop a stronger immune system, so as they grow older they will be less likely to develop allergies and asthma.

Active way of life.

It's no secret that many children do not get enough physical activity during the day. Can't you persuade the little one to move? Give her a puppy. Of course, walking the dog will require more effort than playing with a kitten, but the second option is much better than playing computer games.

Source of comfort and stress relief.

There is no doubt that pets are a reassuring and comforting source in a person's life. They are a source of unconditional love and are always there when you need them. Did the baby have a bad day? Did he argue with his friend or is he recovering from an illness? A pet can help make the road to happiness and recovery less lonely and difficult.

Improves reading skills.

Can a pet help improve your child's reading skills? Yes! One of the best ways for a child to improve their reading skills is to read aloud. Often, children do not want to read to their parents, for fear of being criticized for making mistakes. An excellent solution to this problem is to read a pet. Pets will listen quietly and calmly while children read stories to them. As children read, their skills improve and they bond with their pet at the same time.

Friendly friendship.

Human relationships can be fragile. You never know when your child's best friend will walk away or get upset. For children, an argument with a friend can be devastating. But a friendship offered by a pet is unconditional and endless. No matter what happens, the dog, cat, hamster, or other pet will be there to help him enjoy the good times and comfort him in times of trouble.

Protection.

Parents are always concerned about their child's safety. If you think your little one needs constant protection, take a guard dog. Important: It should not only be a big, angry dog, but a specially trained dog to go to the dog groomer regularly.

Your dog may also be instructed to detect allergens or other harmful substances that could harm your child or to call parents in case of a crisis, such as epilepsy or hypoglycemia.

Manage behavior problems.

If you have a child with behavioral problems, a pet can be a lifesaver. Playing with a dog or cat can have a calming effect on a hyperactive or aggressive child. Also, the child will become more disciplined and will eventually learn to have a more empathetic nature, taking care of the pet.

Understanding the connection between cause and effect.

Learning the consequences is a difficult lesson for children to understand. But, having a pet in the house, the little one will learn that any action has consequences. If a pet is not cared for properly, the consequences are quickly obvious and easy to understand.

For example, if your pet's cage is not cleaned, it will smell. If the fish in the aquarium are not fed, they will die. There is always a clear action and reaction that your children can recognize.

Pets make the family stronger and more united. It is important to find your pet.
