The significant software upgrade to anticipate in 2023 is Android 14. The Android 13 update has been successfully rolled out to all eligible smartphones by Samsung. It won't be long before Android 14 is fully unveiled because Google's development of the operating system is moving quickly.

Every year in the summer, Google I/O, a developer conference, is where new Android OS upgrades are often unveiled. That's probably going to be the case with Android 14 as well. New beta builds will thereafter be released by the firm. Although Samsung has never participated in Google's Android beta program, it will ultimately start its own for Android 14.

The vast majority of Samsung devices will be compatible with Android 14. This is primarily due to Samsung currently offering its smartphones four years of Android OS updates.

The best features of Android 14

At this moment, Google hasn't completely announced Android 14, so it's impossible to give an exhaustive list of all the changes. But over the past few months, certain details have begun to emerge, giving us a solid sense of what to anticipate from the impending significant Android OS upgrade.

Senior corporate insiders have stated that Android 14 will make it possible for devices to make direct connections to satellites. Major carriers are already striving to provide calling and messaging over satellite connections in a few key areas. When Android 14 launches, support for this feature will be made available.

Older smartphones will still be able to connect to the internet, thanks to Android 14. Currently, root certificates on Android devices can only be upgraded through system updates. After four years, most gadgets no longer receive updates. The root certificates may be changed via Google Play Services thanks to this capability.

Additionally, certain design modifications in keeping with Google's Material You design language for its apps could be made. According to a recent claim, Google may launch a new share menu in Android 14. In the future, it would be possible to be updated apart from software upgrades.

At Google I/O 2023, we're eager to hear more about Android 14.

Samsung smartphones running Android 14

With Android 14, a new iteration of Samsung's proprietary software will be released. Most likely, this version will be referred to as One UI 6.0. Like in the past, Samsung will provide new features along with these significant updates.

What these characteristics could be is yet unknown. Some of what they could contain has been suggested by a few reports. Samsung is aiming to deliver Seamless Updates to Galaxy phones, a Samsung VP recently said. It's possible that One UI 6.0 will have this functionality.

One UI 6.0 could have the Predictive Back Gesture functionality that Google debuted with Android 13. This is due to Google's confirmation that Predictive Back Gesture would be a standard feature in Android 14.

One UI 6.0 is expected to have a ton of more new features, but we won't learn about them until later this year.

Samsung's beta for Android 14

As a part of its One UI 6.0 beta program, Samsung will release an Android 14 beta. It should go online sometime in the second half of this year. Only a small number of devices and certain markets are supported by Samsung's beta builds.

What Samsung products will receive Android 14?

The Android 14 upgrade will be applied to all recently released Samsung handsets. Since Samsung now offers four years of Android OS upgrades for compatible smartphones, many older models will also receive the update.

Android 13 will be available on all of Samsung's current top-performing smartphones, but they won't be the only ones. For some devices, the business now offers up to four years of Android OS updates.
