It appears that the social media app TikTok is everywhere these days. It is even making its way into automobiles, as a feature on the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class that will be on the market in the fall of 2023.

A new version of Mercedes-Benz's MBUX infotainment system will be available on the next generation of its E-Class models starting with the 2020 models. The MBUX system will serve as a precursor to Mercedes' custom-built operating system called MB.OS, which is expected to be introduced in late 2024.

There are many apps that are coming to the Mercedes E-Class, but TikTok stands out as one of the most interesting choices because it illustrates Mercedes’ interest and presence in the Chinese market. Besides, TikTok will also be available in other markets, including the United States in the new Mercedes E-Class.

"TikTok in Asia is extremely relevant," Mercedes-Benz CEO Ola Källenius said about TikTok's growth in the east. "Let's not forget that the average age of S-Class owners in China is around or below 40 years old.".

He went on explaining that when they pick all these different apps, they do so market by market or region by region. Whenever we look at what is the most popular whether it is music, movies, or other things, we try to work our way down the list starting with the most popular.

When the vehicle is parked, drivers will be able to click on the TikTok app on the dashboard, and watch videos when they are in the vehicle, thanks to the recently updated MBUX system, which will boast a "super screen" that spans the entire dashboard.

Additionally, passengers are going to have the opportunity to get involved in the action, since they will have access to a portion of the screen that is directly in front of them. As the passenger screen has a limited field of view, the driver cannot view TikTok videos being played on that screen, but the driver's attention will also be tracked by a driver monitoring system.

There will also be Zoom video conferencing, Angry Birds, Vivaldi web browser, and Webex by Cisco apps available on the infotainment system of Mercedes E-Class models. And more will probably be added over time via over-the-air software updates.

In order to make it easier to integrate third-party apps into the infotainment system, Mercedes has developed a new software architecture. The new app store can be accessed via the Mercedes me app within the infotainment system.

In addition to the announcement and premiere of the interior of the upcoming E-Class at the automaker's Sunnyvale, California research and development center, there were several announcements and debuts made during Wednesday's event. As a result of a long-term partnership between Mercedes and Google, the German automaker will gain control over its intellectual property and marketplace while providing its drivers with navigation, maps, and YouTube that will be provided by Google.

It was announced that Mercedes is also working on its own operating system called MB.OS, which is expected to debut in its next generation of vehicles by the middle of this decade, as well as a strategic partnership with Luminar, one of the leading lidar companies in the world.

TikTok?

The TikTok app, a creative and trend-driven social media platform that allows users to create, share, and watch video clips, has achieved a remarkable 689 million monthly users since it was launched in 2017. In addition to being a great platform for independent content creators, businesses, and brands to advertise their work, products, personalities, and ideas to a global audience, TikTok is an ideal choice for all of these individuals. The Chinese company Byte dance, which is regarded as one of the world's most valuable startups, owns TikTok. In addition to this, did we mention that this beloved app is THE place for trending memes and humour in general? There's no reason not to check it out.
