10 Reasons Why You Should Attend a Community College
Working at a community college over the last several years has led me to believe that the majority of people should start their education at one rather than starting at a bigger university first. I remember when I was about to graduate high school and I was researching various colleges and universities all around the country. I did come very close to going to a private college in Florida. The private college was going to offer me several scholarships, however even with the scholarships I would have still had to take out loans in order to get through my degree. Even as a naïve 17-year-old, I decided that I did not want to have massive amounts of student loans to be paying on all throughout my adulthood and career. Instead of enrolling at the very tempting private college, I made a huge decision to attend a local community college. When I look back on my decision to attend a local community college, I am so thankful because, not only did I get a good education, but it is where I found a job and met my beautiful wife. Here are ten reasons why the average person should attend a community or state college versus going to a university first.

Who you were in high school doesn't have to follow you to University.
So, high school was not my favourite experience. It was an uncomfortable, awkward blip in my timeline full of overwhelming pressures. I am not entirely proud of the decisions I made or even the person I used to be. Any reminders of certain cringe-worthy mistakes are downright painful. When I entered university, I created a life that was completely separate from my past. I was determined to shred any reminder of high school. By the time graduation rolled around, I didn't even buy a yearbook because I was so desperate to forget it. The promise of a clean slate and opportunity to start over was mesmerizing to me as an anxious and naïve young adult. Despite clearly running away from my past, the silver lining that came from this attitude was that in time, I used the shame I felt as inspiration to evolve beyond it.

Liberty University alumni are voicing their displeasure regarding the man who has taken the place of former Chancellor Jerry Falwell Jr. In 1978 Jerry Prevo along with other pastors supported an ordinance that would prevent the LBGTQ community from having certain rights. In 1980 Prevo started a chapter of the ultra conservative Moral Majority in Alaska. This organization was started by Jerry Falwell Sr. and opposed women's rights to choose abortion as well as being against Gay Americans. In 2019 Provo a former pastor was quoted as saying, “Young people these days, I don’t think they know what God says about” homosexuality, Prevo said last year. “Therefore, they are endorsing it".
