My Dream Died
Whether as a result of my family role as eldest of the siblings, some intrinsic desire to nurture and provide, or a lethal combination of both, I’ve always wanted to be “successful”. I don’t need a mountain of green (or plastic) at my disposal and I don’t necessarily want a frivolously lavish house or car. Despite not having as much money as the majority of my overachiever counterparts, perhaps even because of it, I want to do “enough” with my life to be able to take care of my family’s present and future needs and to do the most with the blessings that have been bestowed upon me. I know I have one of the most ideal situations in the world: living in a first world country, with a house, and a constant supply of food on the table, and two married parents who love and support me. So, with all of the privileges and advantages bestowed upon me, I really should be able to do something right. Right?

"Buckle up your seat belts, please." I took a deep breath and looked through the window. The planes were taking off one by one. It seemed as if they were going towards a better life, better future. That is where I thought my plane was going as well...

When I first started looking to go to college I thought all these little tip lists were a bunch of crap. People just trying to get you to read so they'd get paid. Looking back, I wish I had paid a little more attention. These lists that may seem unimportant now, will be the same ones you look back on and think, "damn." So, here are my 5 tips for you high school juniors and seniors, or anyone else whose about to take the plunge into the world of college.

I remember being super excited to start college when I was finishing high school. I wanted to meet new people, learn a ton of new things, and have experiences that you don't get anywhere else. Now, I have gotten that. After three full years of college (and a decision to graduate a semester early), I have definitely gotten everything I wanted to.
The TRUE Life of a College Student
Lmao... I have to start this little rant off by laughing. I'm not even sorry about it because COLLEGE SUCKS! Most people who have ever been can agree in some aspect. College is the place that annihilates every ounce of hope in your body. As if high school wasn't a train wreck enough, college is the absolute destroyer of all things good.

Most people know, or have a basic idea of, the daily life of a traditional college student. Wake up, go to class, sit through long lectures, work, home, study, sleep, repeat. Oh and some food in there along the way. However, very few people know the life of an online college student.

Today I want to share my college education experience. One that is ongoing, but one that I feel people should hear. After High School, many feel like they are ready to conquer the world. Sadly, they have no idea what the world has in store for them. They follow the path that has been well worn by those before, and while this path may work for many; it does not work for everyone. This is a story about going off that path, the fear it instilled in me, the struggles it caused, and the passion it ignited.

Invest in a planner and use it. It might seem a bit counterproductive to spend your time planning how you’re going to spend your time. However, this is the best way to figure out your schedule to maximize your productivity during the day. Invest in a planning system (such as a digital calendar/reminder, or even a physical planner) to plan out your goals, day-to-day tasks, and important events/deadlines.

My first year at University has just finished. I study Drama and Theatre at the University of Lincoln and I have loved every second of it. It has not been a breeze and there have been moments when I have thought about packing my bags and heading home but now that I've stuck it out, I honestly can say that I am so happy.

A few years ago, I decided I wanted to go back to school and become a teacher. After a few years of feeling stagnant at my then safety job, it hit me one day that what really lit me up was watching kids learn and develop. I felt I was gifted at raising them up, and I couldn’t think of a better feeling than being surrounded with opportunities to help young people discover the world and themselves. Starting a new career path at 30 wasn’t that scary. Mature students, as they call us, are quite abundant these days.

I've been a student at College of Southern Nevada since Spring of 2016. I am a Psychology Major and I am determined to earn my Associates Degree in Psychology. I later hope after graduating at College of Southern Nevada that I transfer to The University of Nevada, Las Vegas and earn my Bachelors of Psychology and my Masters of Psychology. Though that is definitely a challenge that I have to face. I use Financial Aide Pell Grants and my scholarship from The Veterans Affairs Chapter Thirty-Five benefits. I only have a certain amount of time to go to school and once I turn twenty-six years old, I have to be done with college and have a career in Psychology.
Mission Impossible: Staying Motivated to Study in College
Sometimes getting motivated isn't the problem, but staying motivated can be hard for some students. For those of you who don't know me, my name is Tresa and I am a #studygrammer. My main goal and the reason I start my studygram is to motivate my followers to study and help perfect their study habits.
