Search engine optimization (SEO) is an essential tool for any company that wants to improve its positioning on Google and attract more organic traffic to its website. Here, we break down the three fundamental steps to implement an effective SEO strategy, improving the quality of visitors, since Google and other search engines will have more information and will be able to show your site to the right people.

Before we begin, it's worth briefly explaining how search engines work. In short, the internet is huge, so search engines like Google created an algorithm that uses bots to constantly read all the websites on the internet and add them to their library. That being said, there are no humans manually reading through your website's information to decide which category of the library to include it in. That's why you have to be very careful with your html code , which is what your website's robots will read.

HTML code is nothing more than the programming language that your website is made of. The code basically tells the internet how your site is structured, the photos and texts it contains, among other things. But the only thing you need to know to understand this guide is that HTML contains titles (meta name), descriptions (meta description), headings (heading 1, heading 2, h3, h4, h5 and h6), texts (paragraphs) and photos (images). Now that you know that, we can start the SEO guide in three steps.

Step 1: Keyword Research

Keyword research for your business is the backbone of any successful SEO strategy. This process involves identifying specific phrases that users are searching for on Google when trying to find products or services related to your business.

To get started, you can use tools like Ahrefs , SEMrush , Answer the public , or Google Trends to discover relevant keywords that have a good search volume and manageable competition. Pick one or two variations of a single keyword for each page on your website. This can be done more strategically by the renowned Seo Agency.

Step 2: Insert keywords everywhere on the website

Once you’ve chosen your keywords, the next step is to strategically incorporate them into your website . In the examples below, you’ll notice that we selected the keyword: “Web Development Agency” for our Home page:

Meta title: This is the title of the search result that Google displays. It should be attractive and contain the main keyword to improve the CTR (click-through rate).

Meta description: Provides a brief description of the page in the search results. Include the keywords you chose in the description

Headings (H1, H2, H3, etc.): Headings are the titles within the website. They help structure the content and are important for search engines to identify what the page is about. Include the right keywords so Google understands which searches to show you for.

It is advisable to include the same keyword (with minor variations if necessary) in as many headings and texts on your website as possible. This way, when Google crawls (reads the HTML of your site), it will understand that you want to rank for that keyword in searches.

Photos: Add your keywords to the alt text of your images. This will help you appear on Google Images. The best thing about this is that if people click on your photo, they will visit your website. This is considered an organic visit and your photo becomes a backlink which is very important for building authority for your site.

Step 3: Review technical aspects of the website

Finally, make sure that the technical aspects of your website are optimized for Google and other search engines (Bing, Yahoo, Brave, etc.). This includes implementing SEO services such as specifying the canonical URL to avoid duplicate content issues by identifying the preferred version of a page. Comprehensive SEO services can also help optimize site speed, ensure mobile-friendliness, improve metadata, and enhance overall site architecture, all of which contribute to better search engine rankings and user experience.

Sitemap.xml: This file helps search engines discover all the pages on your site, ensuring that no important pages are left unindexed.

Robots.txt: Use this file to tell search engines which pages on your website should and should not be crawled and indexed by search engines.

For example, we don't want Google to show our contact page in searches because we don't think it's necessary. So our Robots.txt looks like this:

User-agent: *

Disallow: /contact/

Sitemap:

Note that with the “Disallow” command we are telling search engines like Google that we do not want to show links that contain /contact/

Schema.org: Implementing Schema helps improve the way search engines interpret and represent your page in search results, which can significantly improve visibility and CTR.

In short, it is a code that contains microdata about what you do or sell, details of your service or product, contact information, social media links, among other elements.

Including a Schema on your website is useful since it is the most direct communication you have with search engines. You are basically explaining your information to them and providing them with the data, descriptions and images of your services and products so they can display them in the browser. It is a practice that you should NOT avoid.

In conclusion, by following these three fundamental steps and leveraging the expertise of a professional SEO agency, you will be on your way to optimizing your website to improve both its visibility and effectiveness in attracting and converting visitors. An experienced SEO agency can provide tailored strategies, technical support, and ongoing insights to ensure your website achieves long-term success in search engine rankings.
