For people who don't like study
In Part 1, we explored why studying often feels unpleasant.

Now, let’s flip the perspective and look at why studying can actually be fun—and how you can start enjoying it more.
Why Studying Is Naturally Fun
1. Life Itself Is Full of Learning
Studying isn’t just about textbooks or classrooms.
It’s part of everyday life.
Think about it:
- A child reading a picture book is studying language.
- Playing outside teaches physical coordination and social skills.
- Tasting a new food and deciding if you like it is a kind of study in preferences and experience.
Even playing video games can involve learning—if you’re solving puzzles, building strategies, or working with others.
Once you realize this, you’ll start to see that we are always studying something, just by living and paying attention.
2. Pursuing Your Interests Is Also Studying
Learning for tests is one type of studying, but so is exploring what you love.
If you love books, reading more will naturally expand your knowledge.
If you enjoy fishing, going out repeatedly and trying new techniques helps you get better.
That’s studying too—just not the school kind.
In fact, that’s what universities are for: a place to dive deep into what fascinates you.
3. Self-Directed Learning Is Fun
When you learn because you want to, it feels different.
No one’s forcing you.
You’re exploring freely, making connections, and growing at your own pace.
That kind of learning can be incredibly rewarding.
4. The Process Itself Can Be Enjoyable
If you focus only on results—test scores, job offers—it’s easy to feel discouraged.
But when you truly enjoy a subject, the process of learning becomes fun in itself.
It’s like playing an instrument or learning a sport.
Even if you’re not “great” yet, making progress feels good.
5. Studying Always Leaves You with Something
Even if you don’t get the grade you wanted, you still gain something from studying.
You learn new skills. You discover what works (and what doesn’t). You grow.
That growth is valuable—no matter what the result is.
Tips for Making Studying More Enjoyable
Still not feeling the joy in studying? Here are a few tips to help shift your mindset:
1. Ask Yourself: Why Am I Studying?
Try to find your own reason for studying—not just because someone told you to.
Sure, it might be to get into college or find a good job.
But ultimately, studying is about expanding your world.
Knowing more helps you do more.
Being able to do more helps you live more fully.
That’s something worth working for.
2. Enjoy the Process, Not Just the Results
If you focus too much on outcomes, studying gets stressful.
Instead, take pride in small wins:
- “I learned five new words today.”
- “I finally understood this math problem.”
Those small steps are proof that you’re growing.
3. Teach What You’ve Learned to Someone Else
Explaining what you’ve learned to someone else is a powerful way to make studying more fun and effective.
You might realize you didn’t understand it as well as you thought.
That’s okay—now you have a reason to dig deeper.
This is active learning, and it can feel very rewarding.
