User-centered Design
User-Centered Design (UCD) is a process of designing that serves users' interests. UCD allows a design to interact with its user by providing necessary information. In this process, the designer focuses on their basic needs and interest in each part of the design.
One great example of user-centered design comes from IDEO Chicago in association with Moneythink to develop their personal finance app. The target audience was low-income students looking for personal finance apps. The Most challenging part of this project was understanding the targeted audiences' psychology. Imagine you are 16 years student and you are looking for a personal finance management app to manage your daily expenses to bus ticket fare.
Do you think it would be a realistic idea for a 16 years student to create and maintain a savings account or investment fund? Moneythink has to approach this situation by conducting an in-person survey to get a better understanding of school goer thinking on this.
