I Tried Every ‘Easy Money’ Trick Online — Here’s What Finally Worked

Spoiler: It wasn’t some secret software or a magic guru button.

Let’s be real — if you’ve ever searched “how to make money online,” you know the rabbit hole runs deep. I know, because I damn near got lost in it.

It all started back in 2007. I wasn’t trying to get rich. I just wanted a way to make some extra money without clocking in to someone else’s dream every day. I saw the ads. “One click to freedom!” “$1,000 a day from your couch!” And you know what? I believed ’em. Maybe not all the way, but enough to swipe the card.

First it was ebooks that promised “the secret.” Then video courses. Then high-ticket webinars that made me feel like if I didn’t buy now, I’d be broke forever. I was chasing shortcuts like a dog chases its tail — fast, frustrated, and never getting anywhere.

And here’s the kicker: I worked. I studied. I built sites. I tried drop shipping, surveys, MLMs, affiliate launches, shiny plugins, and even a crypto bot that disappeared faster than my faith in humanity.

Each one felt like maybe this was the one. Each one let me down a little more.

If that sounds like your story, I get it. I really dWhat finally worked wasn’t some miracle platform or hidden loophole. It was realizing that I didn’t need more tricks. I needed a plan I could actually stick to — one that didn’t depend on hype, endless upsells, or tech headaches that made my brain ache.

So what did work?

Here’s what I learned after burning through time, money, and way too many logins to count:

1. Pick one simple system — and ignore the noise.

I found one that had everything ready to go: lead capture, follow-ups, even products to sell. It didn’t promise six figures overnight. It promised clarity and simplicity. That was the game-changer. (If you're curious, it's called Escape Plan IS1 — and yes, I still use it.)

2. Focus on helping, not selling.

When I stopped trying to “convert leads” and started sharing stuff that actually helped people, my results changed. I started seeing people thank me. Some even bought. But I had to lead with value, not desperation.

3. Build your mindset like a muscle.

Let me say this loud: if your head’s not in the right place, no system on Earth will work. I had to rewire how I thought about time, money, and my own worth. I started journaling. I read about abundance. I even made my own “mindset map.” And slowly, the fog lifted.

4. Stop learning and start launching.

This one hurt. I was stuck in “learning mode” for years. Always preparing, never doing. Once I gave myself permission to just start, things moved. Not perfectly. Not instantly. But finally, forward.

Listen, if you’re where I was — knee-deep in courses and still broke — you’re not dumb. You’re not lazy. You’re just caught in the noise.

Find one thing that makes sense. Keep it simple. Stick with it long enough to grow roots.

And trust that if some scrappy old locksmith like me can figure this stuff out… so can you.
