The week started with a simple question: could I turn free AI tools into real income?

I want to be upfront about something before we start: I am not a tech person. I'm a 29-year-old marketing coordinator from Bangalore with a decent laptop, a few free hours each evening, and a healthy skepticism toward anything that promises easy money online. What I'd do differently

I spent too much time on Day 1 testing different AI tools and not enough time actually pitching clients. If I started again, I'd spend the first few hours purely on outreach — posting in freelancer communities, messaging local businesses, telling people what I was offering. The jobs came faster once I stopped waiting for the perfect system and started talking to people.

I also underpriced the bakery job. A two-week content package for a business is genuinely valuable — $40 was too low. I've since raised my rate for that kind of work.

The honest takeaway

$100 in a week won't change your life. But it does prove something important: the barrier between having a marketable skill and getting paid for it is lower than most people think, especially when AI handles the most time-consuming parts of the work.

What you still need is judgment, curiosity, and the willingness to actually talk to people. No AI tool replaces any of those. But if you bring them, the combination is remarkably powerful — even in a single week, even with zero budget, even from a city most clients have never heard of.
