HOW TO SURVIVE MIDDLE SCHOOL!!

o Use a weekly planner

Having a planner gives students freedom to plan, organize and keep track of their work to the best of their abilities and requirements. Keep a planner for events and assignments to stay on top of it. Having a planner gives students freedom to plan, organize and keep track of their work to the best of their abilities and requirements. This has a dual benefit in that it increases the student's accountability to the commitments planned as well as provides them with a structure that contributes to their success.

o Mind your business

The best advice I can give you is to mind your business. Minding your business just keeps You out of drama and keeps you more focused on school and work. Reconsider any unhealthy friendships. Think about your friends, and make a note of anyone who makes you feel stressed or unhappy more than they make you feel positive. Take inventory of your true friends and those who only like to gossip.

o Higher Homework Expectations

During the middle school years, homework gets more intense and the time spent will probably be longer than during the elementary years, usually a total of 1 to 2 hours each school night. The key to success in school is staying focused on your course work. Make a list to get an overall picture of your workload before you start to tackle any of it. Then, make a plan. Although it’s tempting to do the simplest assignments first, those that take more time and effort to accomplish are probably the ones that you’ll learn the most from.

o Get you life together

Middle school is your last step before high school so I think the best bet for you is to just get your life together get your plans together figure out what you wanna do in life and then push through it like make a goal and do it because I want to go to high school so much easier and it’s gonna be so much smarter.

O Create New Challenges

Changing your approach can help you stay interested in what you’re doing. If you've been given an assignment similar to one you've done in the past, think about it in a different way. If you wrote an essay for a creative writing assignment last year, try a poem this time. For book reports, pick a history book instead of another biography.

o Find a Social Support Network

Create a group of people around you who want to help you succeed. Mentors can be teachers or family friends who can give you guidance and help you develop new skills. Counselors can help you with planning your courses and starting to explore colleges. You can also reach out to friends and peers who can motivate you by listening and sharing ideas.

O Focus on High-Impact Activities

The key to success in school is staying focused on your course work. Make a list to get an overall picture of your workload before you start to tackle any of it. Then, make a plan. Although it’s tempting to do the simplest assignments first, those that take more time and effort to accomplish are probably the ones that you’ll learn the most from.

O Acknowledge Your Accomplishments

Give yourself a quick reward when you complete an assignment or task.

o Using a planner allows you to schedule each event, appointment, errand, and task, so that you know what to expect and don't run out of time. Set specific due dates and deadlines for everything to help you stay on track, and have extra time left for yourself and your family.
