How hard you deceived me
How hard you deceived me

The Wolf used to live with the fox, and what the Wolf wanted, the fox had to do, because the fox was weak. Once they were going through a large forest together, and the Wolf said, "Red Fox, go and get me something to eat, or I will eat you up." "I know a farm near here," answered the fox, "and there are two little lambs in it. We'll get one if you like." The Wolf thought this was a good idea and went to the farm with the fox. The fox slipped in, stole a lamb, gave it to the Wolf, and went away quickly. When the Wolf had finished eating the lamb, he did not like it. He wanted to eat it again, so he went to steal it. The Wolf clumsily, was immediately found by the ewe, then "baa baa" scream. When the farmer heard this, he ran out and saw that it was a Wolf. He gave the Wolf a savage beating until the Wolf screamed and limped away to the fox. "How hard you deceived me!" "Said the Wolf," I wanted to eat another sheep, but the farmer attacked me suddenly and beat me almost to meat!" The fox said: "Who let you so greedy ah." The next day they went to the farm again. The greedy Wolf said, "Red Fox, go and find me something to eat, or I will eat you." "I know a farmer who is making pancakes tonight," replied the fox. "Let's go and get some." When they came to the cottage, the fox crept round the house, sniffing and looking in. At last he found the plate on which the cake was placed, and went to steal six pancakes and give them to the Wolf. "This is for you to eat." "Said the fox and went away. The Wolf soon finished the six pancakes, and said to himself, "These are more delicious." So he ran there and dragged the whole dish down, and it fell to the ground and broke into pieces. The noise startled the woman, and when she saw that it was a Wolf, she called for someone, and together they beat him with sticks until the Wolf ran away, howling and dragging his lame legs, back into the forest. "How wicked of you to cheat me to that farmhouse, but the farmer caught me and beat me to pieces." But the fox said: "Who let you so greedy ah." The third day they went out again, but the Wolf could only limp. He said to the fox, "Red Fox, go and get me something to eat, or I will eat you up." "I know a man who killed an animal today," said the fox. "The meat is in a bucket in the cellar. Let us go and get some." The Wolf said, "I will go with you, and if I am caught, you will help me." "All right." "Said the fox, and told the Wolf the way and the path to the cellar. At last they came to the cellar, where there was a lot of meat, and the Wolf ate it. The Wolf thought, "I will have enough time to eat before I go." The fox loved it too, but he always looked around and ran to the hole where he had come in, to see if he could get through. "Dear fox," asked the Wolf, "can you tell me why you are always running about and getting in and out?" "I must see if anyone is coming," replied his cunning companion. "Don't eat too much!" The Wolf said, "I will eat up all the meat in the bucket." Then the farmer heard the fox jump in and out, and came to the cellar. When the fox saw his shadow, he ducked out and ran away. The Wolf wanted to run after him, but he was so full of food that he could not get through the hole. The farmer shot the Wolf with a stick, but the fox ran back into the forest, glad to be rid of the insatiable Wolf.
