Movies, especially Hollywood films, oftentimes paint a picture of the American dream. A feature film is typically about 90 minutes long and can tell a story about an important historical event or simply entertain millions of people around the world.

Hollywood movies are the most famous movies around the world. They are made by Hollywood studios, which is why they are called Hollywood movies.

Here are Some Facts About Hollywood Movies:

- The first feature movie was titled The Story of the Kelly Gang and was produced in 1906. It lasted 1 hour and 40 minutes.

- The first colour motion picture was called The World, the Flesh, and the Devil. It premiered in London in 1908.

- The first 3D movie was made by Edwin S Porter with his film called The Great Train Robbery which premiered on November 4th, 1903.

- In 1915 Charlie Chaplin became one of the highest-paid actors in Hollywood when he signed a contract with Mutual Film Corporation for $150,000 per year!

When Did Hollywood Movies Start

The first appearance of Hollywood on film is in the 1916 Sidney Drew comedy short, What Happened to Jones. In an effort to save his struggling marriage, a man takes his wife on vacation to Hollywood. There they meet Stagg, a movie director.

The next year, the newly formed Triangle Film Corporation released the first feature film shot in Hollywood. The Triangle Studios was located at Selma and Vine Street as part of the Selig Polyscope Company.

Soon after, other independent studios were established all over Los Angeles that produced silent features: The Nestor Studios (1911), Universal Studios (1912), and the Mark Dintenfass Film Service (1913).

In 1918, The American Film Manufacturing Company (AFMC) purchased the Gray's Lodge site in the Ocean Park area of Santa Monica and built a state-of-the-art studio on twenty acres of land. By 1921, Cecil B. DeMille, then one of Hollywood's foremost directors, announced plans to build his own studio on Providencia Street in Hollywood.

DeMille's company was merged with six other independent studios - including Famous Players and Lasky - to form Paramount Pictures Corporation in May 1927.

When Did Hollywood Start Making Color Movies

Colour movies became the standard in Hollywood with Citizen Kane, which was filmed in Technicolor.

Although it's easy to find movies that were shot in colour, there wasn't a wide colour palette to use until the 1920s. Prior to that, most colour movies were tinted. This meant the whole movie was tinted one colour, like sepia or a shade of blue depending on the tone of the film.

The first full-colour feature film was The Toll of the Sea, which came out in 1922. Filmed in two-strip Technicolor and released on Nov. 6, 1922 (three days before Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm), The Toll of the Sea is about an Asian girl who falls in love with an American man and dies after he refuses to marry her.

However, it wasn't until 1935 that colour films started becoming popular. In fact, The Wizard of Oz (1939) was one of the first full-colour films that were a commercial success.

Before then, theatres had to invest a lot of money into new projectors and screens just to show colour movies β€” and audiences weren't willing to pay more than they already did for tickets.

How Hollywood Movies are Made

In Hollywood, a movie is made by a group of people who come together to make a film. Each person involved has their own role to play and they all work together to create the final version of the film.

Hollywood is made up of many different types of jobs, from actors and directors to cinematographers and set designers. The studio system provides a structure for these employees to work together on projects in a way that is efficient and profitable for both the studio and the individual employee.

Many people think that Hollywood movies are made by one person but this isn't true. Movies are actually made by dozens of people working together.

The first step in making a Hollywood movie is finding an idea for a story that has never been told before or that hasn't been told recently enough to be relevant again. The writer will use his knowledge of storytelling techniques, the writing process and how stories are structured to create this new idea.

Once the story has been written, it's time for production companies to get involved. Production companies finance films by providing money upfront so they can be shot and released later on.

Why Do Hollywood Movies Cost So Much

Hollywood Movies cost so much because they attempt to sell their product to a mass audience, and that requires a lot of overhead. The overhead comes in the form of production costs, marketing costs, and distribution costs.

The biggest factor that makes movies cost so much is the need to appeal to such a large audience. Movies must be perceived as worth paying for by tens of millions of people in order to be successful.

Production costs are also very high. There are many actors, special effects artists, script-writers, equipment operators, etc that all have to be paid. These costs can get even higher if the movie needs to film on location or use expensive props or sets that take time and money to construct.

Marketing is another huge expense for movies. All of those ads you see for movies cost a lot of money. Marketing is important because without it, fewer people will go see your movie and it won't make as much money.

Distribution costs are also substantial because every movie has to be shipped (physically or digitally) out from wherever it was produced (usually Hollywood) to cinemas all over the world.
