Studying even only for a couple of hours a day may be too much for a lot of people but there are also some who study about 15 hours a day.

It’s about setting the priorities for your goal.

The first thing required for Building a discipline is repetition if you do something every day every week at the same time. You won’t think twice before doing it would build a habit. You would not feel like you are doing something by going out of your way.

If you have school or some other classes, you don’t have to study for 10 hours after that, you can also include the time of the classes.

The goal to build discipline is not to self-study for 10 hours. The goal is to sit for 10 hours to study. The things you study don’t have to be related to your schoolwork. It can either be a self-development book, a blog, or a new skill that you are trying to learn.

Methods I recommend which can help you achieve your goal :

  • The most basic method is to just try sitting for 10 hours, of course with some breaks of 15 min after every 2 hours.

That 15 min will help you cope up with all stress or fatigue you have built and will give you energy for another two.

During the break, you can stretch or have a snack. You can also watch a youtube video but I won’t recommend it as the algorithm is designed to suggest the videos you want to watch and then there will be no end and you will have wasted a lot of your time.

  • If you are trying to learn a new skill, it would be great if you could have discipline in learning on your own. If not then it's best to join a course.

The course should not be a self-paced course as it would mean the same thing. Preference would be for a live course, in case you could not afford such a course as they are usually expensive.

You can also select an online course that has dedicated deadlines. The perfect example would be coursera as they have deadlines for assignments given per week and you can also easily get many of their courses for free if you apply for their scholarship. Most of the time you easily get approved for the scholarship.

  • The last method I would usually not recommend because it is quite risky. But it also is high risk and high reward.

The method is to find someone who shares the same goal with you and try to study at an equal pace with them.

The reason this method is risky because it is difficult to find someone with the same goal along with similar enthusiasm to study. Even if you maintain your discipline there is a chance that your study mate won’t, if something like this happens it’s gonna affect your discipline and efficiency.

But there is also a high reward, in case if everything goes well then the efficiency and speed you will get will be a lot higher as each of you will try to outpace each other.

From all these methods the most consistent is the first one as the other two methods depend upon external factors like the duration and timings of the course for the second method and the mindset or availability of your study mate in the third method.

So for the first method, it would be difficult to just start studying 10 hours a day from 1 to 2 hours a day. The best idea would be to increment the total time you study each subsequent day by either 15 minutes or 30 minutes depending upon your ability to cope up.

So all the best. In case you run into any problem, Just drop a comment :)
